Is there anything SDS can do about freezeoffs?
-
Obviously anyone who plays this game knows it has its gameplay flaws. If you read this forum for 5 mins you’ll find countless threads.
The one that bothers me the most is freeze-offs. How after all these years have they not figured this out and why can’t there be a better solution for a result? I should not be taking losses in games I am winning because my opponent refuses to quit. There should be some type of resolution where AT WORST you get no win/loss but any stats from the game that were saved can count. I already have a loss on my ranked record from a game I was leading 5-1 and my opponent refused to quit and I’m leading a game right now 6-3 in the 8th and he’s not going anywhere. I also had to quit an event game I was leading earlier that froze because my opponent refused to quit.
Has anything ever even been discussed or addressed regarding this from SDS or do we just complain about it to each other on here.
PS- if you’re losing and the game freezes just quit. Enough with the ego, you’re losing so take your L and move on.

The more I think about freeze offs the more I think it isn't anything that SDS can really fix. If it was a coding error; they would've fixed it by now.
I think it has to do with the connection between you and your opponent.
Something is cause the connection to 'freeze' or drop enough that it doesnt completely DC that person.
Unfortunately unless they put something in that recognizes that a 'move' hasn't been made in a certain point of time that the game just goes into where it shows up as not counting; there is nothing to do but sit and wait or just leave yourself.

I quit even if I win poeple are desperate when tapping circle every 4 pitches don't work ! For the freeze sds could do something I've been teaching over the years .... is to do their fckin job !!!!!! I guess they saw us as just a bunch of masochist but for real the simple fact that there's no competition in baseball video games is killing this game. Feel like they hired the janitor as the new coding guy !

they havent changed its been happening for 3-5 years

I'm not a game designer.
Baseball though has functionality that is more unique than football, baseball, soccer etc. Those games are dynamic in terms of toons constantly in motion. Those toons have to send and receive location coordinates to and from a server node during game play. Likely why EA and 2K use dedicated servers.
MLB though is HEAVY on user input with the toons in a relatively fixed location until the ball is in play. Once that happens, you are only allowed t move either your runner, or the defender near the ball.
Why am I bothering to hypothesize this? Because that's my theory why baseball is required to be peer to peer for connection. Baseball has so many more interactions between opponents and stats that need to be recorded and reconciled. When you take a shoot, it's only on you to record that stat. When you ground out, the defender needs a fielding attempt logged, batter result, pitcher record added in real time etc.
Because so many peer to peer interactions occur, it's naturally subjected to connection errors and thus a freeze off.
I'm telling you folks that freeze offs are being manipulated mostly by the offender. How? Excessive network traffic by them. What can SDS do about it? Next to nothing unless they start terminating frozen games that can't reconcile data exchange. That is very very very messy to resolve and have non offenders to be happy.
The ultimate solution is to review metadata on the disconnects received for dashboarding and reviewing W/L results with disconnect rituals.
That's messy AF also. Personally, I think it can be done because that data is static and you can query and isolate it. I don't think they have the manpower to do it though.
