I think people are looking at the Conforto situation and don't want to risk it. At the end of the day these guys get financial independence by playing a game they love every day. I'd take it too.
I don’t blame him for taking the contract, I just thought he would get closer to 10 million.
It’s FU money. He could invest that in VTI, withdraw 4% a year, and retire in 2 years with half a million salary.
Im throwing it all in crypto and letting it ride lol. He did well, but as I said earlier, really thought he would get closer to 10 mill. It’s a good deal for both sides but if Reynolds keeps improving thats a great deal for the Bucs.
Pyramid schemes ftw.
Happy for them too. I’d love to see them competitive again. One of the best parks to visit.

It’s on my list, going to knock the California teams off my list this year.

Nice! Enjoy. I’ve only been to Oracle Park in Cali. Going to Fenway on July 5th this year.

The good news, he is free after two seasons. He really only had one good season, not to say he is not good, but arbitrators usually look at previous years performance as well. Im hoping he kills it this year and ends up on a real baseball team, next year and then signs an extension. Its one thing to rebuild, start fresh and developed young players but Pittsburg even trades all their young talent. So they wont sign free agents and wont retain young talent, not sure how you are supposed to win and keep a fan base.

I’ve been trying to get to Oracle for about 3 years now, finally going to get to visit. Fenway will be next year for me when I do a bit of a east coast swing.

Was really surprised he didn’t get moved last year TBH, but the Bucs have that Jobu voodoo going for them I guess lol.

Amazing park ; if it weren't for COVID restrictions across the borders, I'd go back in a minute.

I went on a sort of east coast trip back in 18. Mostly for history, though. I did get to see a game in D.C and Pittsburg. I miss having summers off. The Newseum in DC was the best part of the trip, but I think it’s closed now.

I don’t get summers off either but two years of sick days and vacation have been built up so its time to use them

That right there, how in the hell did the Braves manage that, as a Braves fan you have to be absolutely loving life.

I was just about to mention those two when I saw this post
I'm pretty sure they were able to get stimulus checks last year so Reynolds should be happy he didn't have their agents.

Oh, agree. Just seems like undermarket deals have become increasingly rare. And when people say it's not about the money, which is almost never true when those words are spoken; it's sorta refreshing to see the actions rather than the words. Players have every right to risk going for a max deal; but I'd have a hard time not locking in that money and enjoy playing the game.
I still remember when Mike Hampton left the NL Champion Mets to sign with the Rockies because he wanted his kids to have access to better schools. As someone who grew up in the NJ town whose public schools he eschewed and was teaching in Denver at the time I laughed hysterically. It had NOTHING to do with the dump trucks full of money my Rox handed out to Hampton and Denny Nagel that off-season!
