I'm Dutch, we fly the color orange. That's probably why. And I applaud you for being able to assess my character based on a few comments online and without ever meeting me. Talk about giving away tells about someone's personality
.Love the irony here. And I was explicit earlier about not making a claim about you based on your posts in this thread. But I have read so many of your others that I can’t reserve cumulative judgment.

Jeez!! A player decided to post his thoughts on the game so far and a couple people want to flame him for his opinions? Who cares if he hadnt been around forever, who cares if he never even made Championship series. It is his right and opinion to post how he feels, not how some people want him to feel.
Sure, disagree all you want, but at least bring up what you disagree with and debate it. Or better yet do your own little write up.
You’re taking about the dude telling people to keep their mouths shut and saying not to mind the small sample size because he should be considered an expert, his post?
If I were to make a claim, based solely on his posts here, that too much of his self-worth is based on this game and that his fragile ego craves constant validation, that would have more evidence backing it up than his “annual assessment” does. But I won’t, because that’s not enough evidence to make such a claim. Nor would any expertise I may have in psychology increase the validity of such a claim.
I said keep your mouth shut to @HustlinOwl_PSN in regard to him saying that I mainly play offline. I didn't take offense to you, you're just too lazy to read some text and try to pass it off as a lack of sample size. That's fine, like myself you don't need any validation either.
I’m not “too lazy” too read it. I just make it a practice not to read worthless opinions. But at least you were transparent and early about it being based on so little. Saved me some time. Appreciate it. And I’m aware that it wasn’t directed at me, but I’m still going to judge you for saying it to anyone. Very classy.
You are in no position to talk about classy
. But I'm done going back and forth with you, it's unfortunate we have to argue over something so insignificant. But since you keep getting personal towards me, I'm just gonna go ahead and block you and be done with it. -

If you're talking about prison it depends on the state but normally that's just a Hollywood trope. Blue is the color of the incarcerated, except in some reception style prisons.
Oh....wait...I know what you mean....like a cheeto....ah I see what you did. Too much time in a tanning bed?

I’ve been curious as to if removing the outer PCI would ease some of the hitting issues. Lot of the fluke stuff happens out of the inner PCI. If the outer was gone and you didn’t get the inner on the ball…it should be a swing and miss…..currently it’s producing a lot of these bloop hits.
Outer PCI makes the hitting too forgiving I believe.

And you’re exactly part of the problem. I play a ton of online and share OPs views. What’s you’re excuse now? The entire hitting/Pitching mechanic is terrible and needs to be fixed asap.

So I've been playing offline since release, grinding all the programs and what not. So during that time I always keep my opinion to myself, because we all know offline usually plays fine and you don't really run into the issues that could spoil your experience.
Today I've been playing the event all day long. And it started out okay I guess, some slugfests here and there and just getting my feet wet. Nothing out of the ordinary. But the more I played, the more recurring themes I encountered.
First and foremost, the amount of bloopies/flukies or whatever you wanna call them are simply ridiculous. I understand that it is a part of baseball and it is totally fine if they happen occasionally. But the volume of bad swings that get rewarded are just out of hand at this point. We all like hit variety and we all want contact hitters to be usable, but not if this is the trade off. And that's what I feel is happening here, these hits are a thing because of the complaints regarding lack of hit variety in the past in my opinion.
What I also noticed is that the game, once again, forces my perfectly executed pitches into the strike zone. This was a thing in 18 and it feels the exact same to me in that sense. I have given up staggering amounts of homeruns on offspeed pitches that I spotted almost in the dirt and executed perfectly, yet somehow ended up in the bottom of the strike zone. Why are perfectly executed pitches being punished? What's the point of mastering PPP, which was introduced to widen the skill gap mind you, if you're gonna reduce that skill gap once more by adding randomness to the pitching outcome?
Then I've noticed that contact hitting is broken. Again. Try it for yourself to have a laugh. I played 5 games in a row swinging with the contact button exclusively and I hit 430ft homeruns and get 110+ mph exit velocities all the same. We can no longer see our opponent's feedback, but I wouldn't be surprised if many of the players in this community do the exact same thing. Since it widens the timing windows, allows for more solid contact and still gives you the same exit velocities.. why would you ever normal swing or even power swing?
Then there is the overall performance of the game in terms of fluidity and choppiness. I play on PS5 on performance mode and I played in a handful of created stadiums and major league parks that once again induce frame drops and choppiness all around. As if I'm playing on my vanilla PS4 all over again. Try playing an online game at Target Field and you'll see what I mean.
Another thing that seriously irritated me is the amount of weak flyballs and even pop ups on swings where the ball is entirely in my buckshot, albeit in the top part of it. But that's what the game wants us to do, no? Lift the ball with power hitters? So that's what I'm aiming for and I get okay hits for weak pop ups. Again, this reminded me of MLBTS 18.
Last but not least (for now) is the amount of freeze offs STILL HAPPENING. Like how on earth can you not find the issues to this problem for all these years? I can't help but think that these people just don't care or have given up on this problem like "it's part of the game, get used to it". That's unacceptable and laughable in a sense.
I have tried my hardest to find some good things to say as well. I guess I do like the sound off the bat, especially during a perfect/perfect. I also like the fact that fielders have more urgency and you're able to gun a lot more people now with good throwing input. But that's about it.
I'm sorry, but the game is just not very good. Again. I hate that it gives me MLBTS 18 vibes, but that's really what it does. Hopefully the upcoming gameplay patch that has been confirmed will fix many of this issues. If not, I probably won't play very long.
Edit:
One thing I forgot to mention, the PCI anchor. This feature was brought because people wanted to be able to have a sensitivity slider for the PCI. This is not that! The feature is terrible because it is basically guess pitch lite. People can just sit in a certain part of the zone and take away a whole part of the plate. I noticed that some people do this and don't swing until the ball comes into that part of the zone. I don't see how this has anything to do with skill and I think it's a terrible feature that should be removed asap or should be barred from online play. And yet people will defend this game Rae’s. You nailed a lot points over noticed as well. Good read on this one.

Question for you: Do you feel that these issues are intentional due to this being the first year for Switch? Meaning, do you feel that they dumbed down the gameplay for Switch players?
Honestly I don't think there's a correlation there. They are just trying to find balance in the game within their (limited) perception of possibilities and have yet to find it. But now I feel like they're making the same mistakes that they clearly didn't learn from, which is disappointing.
If anything, the devs have the least limited perception of possibilities, given that they have access to all of the telemetric data. Any sample sizes we as individuals come up with will never be enough to make decisions for the whole player base.

You're right about the last part. I feel like they are stuck in tunnel vision though and lack creativity to come up with something truly new. It seems as if they rather stick with an "okay" product and not take any form of risk instead of stepping a little bit outside their comfort zone to try and aim for something better and possibly something great. The fact that the game has been so identical for all these years proves that.

That ‘truly new’ strategy was tried with RTTS, twice. The first time (18-20) copped a lot of flack but what seemed like an equal amount of positivity (including from myself, at least from 19 onwards). The second time (21) was a gigantic swing and miss and hopefully won’t lose RTTS too many players because it’s an important mode.
Unfortunately if casual users and heavy users are going to be treated the same way then the result will be reflective of trying to maintain that balance, and will probably even out in the long run. Heck, even as a Franchise player I’m still questioning the outcomes of plays that seem to be obvious ways to create drama in a game!
Anyway, that’s why leagues are the way to go if you want to enjoy online play. Well, they were, until this year

Maybe those that you call "usual defenders" actually do not defend the game as much as blasting the incoherent nonsense that many spew on this forum! Those "defenders" are not here because Raes actually has well thought out opinions rather than a long whiny post that blames everything on the game for all their losses and swings and misses! There's a big difference between Raes' posts and those other posts.

Game sales and player retention play an important part in they’re design of the game also imo. Make it too hard and players quit, don’t get many HR’s and the game isn’t fun players quit, get beat too many times online players quit, too hard to get a comeback win players quit, don’t get easy pitches to hit while online players quit.
They have the numbers, they say it many times they are monitoring them. They know exactly where the largest player base plays, the amount of every single kind of hit, wins/losses, they know exactly what to do to appeal to the masses and the gameplay reflects that.
Manipulated gameplay is rampant in all other Ultimate Team games, there’s no doubt in my mind it wouldn’t be in this game. I’ve played thousands upon thousands of RS Events BR games….I’ve seen it all and anyone else who’s played enough themselves have experienced it.
Game keeps getting more popular every year with bare minimum changes to gameplay, they’re model is working and they’re content with it.

I’m not seeing the usual defenders on this thread, that’s interesting cause they usually show up to give they’re excuses of the gameplay or call someone a “conspiracy theorist” or “you just blame the game cause you suck” and the famous “it happens in real baseball”…..they’re no where to be found here lol…..wonder why.
So you can have 2 different players bring up the same issue but only the one who did a good job typing it out is deemed relevant while the other player (who voiced the same exact issue in a different way) is labeled as incoherent nonsense? Explain that to me.
