Is there a workaround to getting a custom roster to stick when starting a Franchise? I spent hours editing a custom roster with current rosters, pitching rotations and lineups but as soon as I start a Franchise (Even starting in the regular season) the Rosters are all messed up. I didn't play last year's game but I remember this also being an issue from years prior. How can they not have fixed this by now? What's the point of spending time "Validating" a roster file if it's just going to do whatever it wants when you start a Franchise anyway?

probably has to do with having "CPU roster control" or "CPU lineup management" on, in your settings

No. Everything is set to "Manual" and CPU Roster control off. This has been a problem in the past but I was hoping they would have fixed it by now. In the past the only way around it would be to go into Spring Training and edit my rosters again the day before the season starts.

When you are in spring training everybody is brought up to the MLB level. After spring training you have to manually knock guys back down to the minors and make sure your 40 man roster is set. It's best to do this with all 30 teams, using two profiles.

They changed it in 20. So apparently you don't know what you're talking about.

During spring training it brings all the guys on your 40 man to the mlb level if you start with a 40 roster or it will auto populate the 40 man if you start with a 26 roster. At any point during Spring Training go to the roster section within franchise and for all 30 teams drop the guys back down to the minors to where they were originally, it will use an option but when you advance to the regular season all the lineups and rotations stick.

Here is a 7 page thread from Operations Sports from 2020. It explains everything.

Oh, I almost peed myself laughing at this. Then I cried a little.

RIP Franchise mode, my favorite mode in all of sports gaming.

[censored] tried with Ridin rosters, reduced the 40 man to just mlb 26 and started franchise. Went into spring training and boom back to 40 man rosters

40 man rosters are a requirement during spring training in the MLB. So you can either play the ST with 40 men, and wait until the last day of training to set the 26 man, or just skip the spring altogether. There is no way around having a 40 man roster in the spring.

Isn’t there a glitch where you cannot set the 40 man roster for spring training yourself? You have to end up using options for players when you shouldn’t have to right?

I've never seen that happen, unless they players are already Rule 5 players.

I remember back in the day I would upload a roster file with just the 25 and good to go then add to 40 man once season starts

Yeah, I mean as long as I don’t use up the other 2 options for the player then I’m good but it just stinks you can’t customize your own 40 man to start your franchise..
