Why did content fall off a cliff?

Last year's game came out after the season started. Hard to have Topps Now when there's nothing to pull from yet.

I always feel the need to specify the difference between content and cards in the game, because they're not the same thing. As far as content (which is actual playable stuff), I think it's pretty much the same if not more compared to previous years with the addition of mini seasons.
Now as far as cards concerned, I personally don't dislike this strategy. Live series players are actually usable now and hopefully they will be for a little while. Take last year for example, the game was cluttered with 99s. Basically anyone who did something got a 99. I don't like that. Less cards brings a little bit of well needed balance, especially early on like now.
Yeah that’s true, I didn’t think about it in that aspect with live series cards. But in terms of games to play, I’m not a fan of there not being as many moments as before. I liked being able to knock out moments when I wanted to then play conquest if I wanted to run 3 inning games. I feel like they limited the amount of moments now, and all there really is to do is three inning games in conquest or mini seasons. I could just be biased bc last years setup of the game was my favorite to date.

True, but I heard there’s not gonna be topps now in the game this year and they were just going to be giving temporary boosts to players that have a good week, which I think would be terrible

There's like 50 moments between FOTF and the city connect program

There were more last year at launch

There are more total moments right now then there were last year at this time

This is well-said. I’ve been warming up to the new content format each day. Last year was overwhelming and a lot of the “content” ended up feeling like busy work, just grinding stats for extra cards to sit in collections.
Quality, not quantity.

Season hasn't started so of course we won't have Topps Now

And before you say “it’s only the first week, chill out” last year at release, we had first inning, team affinity, and Topps now. This year, we only have team affinity and first inning morphed into one, and no topps now. Last year, between doing moments, collections, exchanges, and objectives, we had the opportunity to get 31 diamonds (all 30 teams team affinity card and the first inning boss of your choice) and now we have the opportunity at 10 (2 per division)…. I can’t be the only one completely underwhelmed and disappointed by this years game to this point…
First off, the Topps Now came out on Fridays....how would you expect us to have the Topps Now WHEN THE SEASON HASN"T EVEN STARTED YET?
Second, we actually get 12 FOTF cards as there are 6 divisions in MLB.
Third, they just dropped the Nike Connect program yesterday and a new Conquest.
Fourth, those 30 cards we got last year were all 88s....we're getting 90s now.
Fifth....give it a few weeks before we start talking about content "falling off a cliff" ffs.

Raes, while I do agree partially with your take, I think SDS should slowly introduce more 99’s later in the year. Not super late, but at least a good chunk by at least the World Series when the game is at its last breath. I really enjoyed how 17 did there’s, but the again that was when live series cards could be 99’s as well. Overall I like card diversity, but should be spaced out more, and not super late for some cards.

I think there is plenty of content. I feel like I have played quite a bit and have barely scratched the surface. There are modes I have not even played yet. I believe the big drop off is not receiving as many stubs or packs as we are used to seeing, which is making Live series collections seem like a monumental task. Working the market seems like a must do this year to gain any ground.

I don't think that's a link for the TN in the game. Pretty sure that's a link if you want to buy the Topps Now cards from their website.
Which is why I think Topps decides who the players are that get TN cards and not SDS. So when people coming that SDS didn't give 'so and so' a card; it's because Topps didn't give them one.

Maybe there is less, or maybe not, but it is not like there is a shortage of content now.
6 conquest maps (I think it is up to 6)
2 Showdowns
3 Programs (including the starter program)
60+ moments so far
30 missions for the 30 gold classic cards that we get during the program that nobody ever mentions.
Mini seasons
Ranked Seasons
Events

I agree with this in regards to the cards. Last year you could grind for a day or 2 and have 30 99s, which should never happen. I like that now you actually have to make decisions on who you want from the program if you don't want to put money into it or flip for stubs. And live series cards should be usable much longer now. I think it's a step in the right direction, and I'm curious as to how this is going to unfold throughout the course of the year.

RTTSI almost included those but those are more DD adjacent since they are their own modes on the main menu.

If Topps Now isn’t going to be in the game this year, why would SDS put a link to it on their home page?
