What a disappointment....

I definitely agree about the Commentary!
-
Give it time. They will add more content. Hopefully they see our displeasure with how they compressed daily moments, team affinity, and the inning program into one program and make some changes.
I agree tho. Team Affinity last year was hundreds of free packs on top of the free packs from the inning and daily. Now the whole program gives you like 10 packs to earn.
-
I think they saw the number of great cards available through non-purchase and offline play in TS 21 and said "this has to change."
The new TA system will cause more players to purchase stubs. So SDS wins.
-
Never have, never will buy stubs.
This is why offline franchise people are so pissed. We see the way the whole industry is going, and SDS is in fact following along, albeit more slowly and stealthily.
-
The only problem is that you don't get a choice out of the first 6 packs. Only getting 12/30 is fine. You don't need every card in the game for free. Just because it isn't the handout that MLB 21 was doesn't mean anyone needs to buy stubs.

Are those things really random? They say “choose one of five players.”

I didn't bring that part up and the first go around you get 1 random card. The next you'll get to choose. The issue is that instead of being able to collect all TA cards within a TA program, you can now unlock 12 of them (6 forced, 6 picked) and have to find other methods to acquire the other 18.
Will there be packs made available later on through progress/plat? Sure. Will they sell a 30k stub pack to earn a random card out of the 30 available (including duplicating one you have already bought)? Yeah, most likely.
I am curious to know what part of the change will "benefit players"? or can someone explain HOW this is better? I do not see a clear-cut purpose other than slowing down card acquisition for the hopes of more money spent. It was like last year they threw cards at everyone to sink their teeth into new players.
Yes, it is early. The game did not officially release yet and I will be rightfully skeptical of changes made.

Also the entire XP program.

Agree Mini seasons is broken

Trea Turner and Jacob Degrom completely broke online gameplay from July on, after TA3. Yes you could argue they could just not put god tier cards in TA, but then everyone would complain about the cards being lackluster. We were in desperate need for a reset of peoples approach. Let's be real, anything less than 10 free steroid guys would have been a disappointment after last years team affinity. There wasn't a way to improve TA without having another Degrom fiasco, which far more people complained about than this.

I see your point and the cards are not given to SDS for them to distribute, SDS creates and distributes the cards - you are correct: they did not need to make god-like cards in July. I think some of the God like pitching cards will die down this year given the changes to pitching and the high-inside hitting window opening up a bit.
I think what is missing (and really what is always missing) is SDS thoughts/reasons on the change. They do not speak to community and rarely if ever explain anything. They flag this as "quality of life" and no one has explained how it makes life better.

Team Affinity was the biggest reason I enjoyed the game; if we don't get something equivalent I will be a sad panda. Made it so much fun to grind.
-
TA was just to easy last year and in most cases didn't really require the community to play the game with the release of TA 2 and beyond. The other impact TA had was its devalued all other aspects of the game. RS rewards, BR rewards, Inning rewards were all viewed as lack luster because of TA. I can't tell you how many time people posted about new rewards in those mode with this statement
"These rewards are an L they aren't better then anything you can earn through TA so what's the point to grind out RS"
That statement right there is why we have had a whole sale change in the feature programs. Is SDS to blame in how they handled TA yes but so is the community because it can never be pleased.
Thus change is good and will be good because it will draw content out, you won't have those getting to 650k in 2 week then complaining there is nothing to do.
NMS can still occur you just have to find the new and best way to do it and isn't tat suppose to be way NMS is fun not because SDS hands over amazing cards for almost no effort.
The term NMS ment nothing last absolutely nothing this year being NMS looks like it will hold weight and those who do it will earn that NMS crown they so desire

Let’s be fair.
First, I think the early launch was a complete disaster. Shame on SDS. And I despise almost all the changes they made to the game.
BUT. Last year you couldn’t get all the 42’s for free either. And in any inning program you only got one boss. So not getting all the opening cards isn’t a new thing.
There will be ways to get them for free later, I’d predict

Yeah, for people who enjoy offline it was a great program, along with Monthly Awards. If they don't have similar feels and reward structures, it's a massive miss.

shame on them for sure - at this point it sounds like for those who did the pre-order they paid $20 extra to be beta testers

SDS should partly refund those who paid for early access. I'll keep the game, but having progress continually wiped out when you paid for time with the game is unacceptable.

Man it makes me laugh how upset people are over this when SDS has been accused of being a money grab for things well before this and everything worked out fine.
Let me tell you a story about a game called MLB the show 18 and it's little gem of a thing called exchanges. If there is a money grab thing ever it was these as they all came from packs and the community Sai the same thing back then. Now 18 had many things wrong with it but that was the money grab that everyone said SDS had become EA for that was 4 games ago now.
-
The big miss here is for people who prefer offline, which was stated above. I get that players like Cabrera and Degrom created an online problem. And because of that, offline players have very little to do, thanks to the eliminated content. I'm becoming kind of a hybrid because I like BR, but I can't imagine ever enjoying RS. Therefore, I was hoping for big offline programs like TA with TA conquests, and other programs with lots of cards so I can change my rosters up. Playing offline with one roster gets old real quick.
I do agree with @CDNmoneymaker93_MLBTS regarding giving them a chance. Perhaps they have a lot of content geared towards offline players up their sleeve. If not, and it's just monthly featured programs like this, this year will be a huge L primarily for offline players.
I spent almost as much time playing 21 this weekend because of the lack varied content to grind. Admittedly that had much to do with the servers and mini seasons being broken as anything else, but that should be a huge red flag when the old game seems more appealing than the new one.

Why does everyone hate the commentary? At least everything is baseball related and its not just stupid jokes.
