These threads are always better in the early part of the year when we aren't all rocking 97-99 overalls in every spot. Although, most of us have had nearly two weeks with the game now and with a lot more time to play than we're probably accustomed to, so with that said, I expect a few big time "flexing on fools" squads already.
I'm still working my way to a few Face of the Franchise cards but I do have a couple:
Catcher - Gary Sanchez, 87 OVR (Show Classics) If you leave something over the plate or try to throw high and inside -- your left fielder is going to be watching that ball fly over his head. I'm planning on acquiring Face of the Franchise Carlos Santana to platoon with him off the bench versus lefties but for the time being, I'm more than okay with facing a lefty with over 100 power despite the 40 contact and meh-level vision.
1B - Josh Bell, 88 OVR (Face of the Franchise) I just switched from the Live Series to the diamond but I am all about Josh Bell's swing -- In my opinion, it's easily one of the best in the game. I've yet to have him botch anything either, however, once a diamond Frank Thomas comes out, he'll be relegated to the bench.
2B - Whit Merrifield, 82 OVR (Live Series) Ironically, he was the very first gold I received as my loyalty reward and so I immediately stuck him in the lead-off spot and I just haven't been able to take him out. He's got the highest average on my team, has some truly surprising power, and his ability to play anywhere but shortstop and catcher gives him late-game versatility. I'm going after his diamond Face of the Franchise card next.
SS - Jimmy Rollins, 91 OVR (Veteran) I didn't realize how much I missed this man's swing until I popped this bad boy into my lineup. The way the ball comes off his bat, the way he follows through is just so satisfying. Last year, I had a really hard time finding a shortstop; eventually, I settled on the SS Omar Vizquel. I won't have that problem this year.
3B - Yoan Moncada, 86 OVR (Face of the Franchise) I'm so excited to have a diamond Moncada this early into the game's life-cycle this year. Last season, by the time he got that diamond Player of the Month card, The Show's Finest cards were pretty much on their way to being released. If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for switch-hitters.
LF - Curtis Granderson, 85 OVR (Veteran) This card brought me back to that one year (was it TS16 or 17?) we got the diamond Granderson from Conquest. That card straight raked and so does this one! This was a pleasant surprise.
CF - Ken Griffey Jr., 83 OVR (Show's Legacy) I didn't expect to use this card very much at all but he hasn't left my lineup. I know people love that Aaron Judge, but I think I made the right choice. Can't wait for a prime/SS Griffey Jr.
RF - Vladimir Guerrero, 91 OVR (WSH Collection Reward) I just unlocked him a few hours ago, so I haven't had much time with him but I'm excited to use him. I never unlocked the SS last year and I stopped playing The Show '18 by June, so I never completed the Live Series collection for his Immortal card. Fingers crossed on this investment.
Starting Rotation Ace - Max Scherzer, 92 OVR (Live Series) SP2 - Michael Kopech, 87 OVR (Prospects) SP3 - Stephen Strasburg, 87 OVR (Live Series) SP4 - Zack Greinke, 84 OVR (Live Series) SP5 - Mark Buehrle, 82 OVR (CHW Collection Reward)
Bullpen LR - Dennis Eckersley, 93 OVR (Evolution) MID - Kenley Jansen, 82 OVR (Live Series) MID - Will Smith, 82 OVR (Live Series) MID - Sean Doolittle, 80 OVR (Live Series) SU7 - Roberto Osuna, 83 OVR (Live Series) SU8 - Kerry Wood, 85 OVR (Veteran) Closer - Aroldis Chapman, 85 OVR (Live Series)
RF - 99 Reggie Jackson CF - 99 Mickey Mantle LF - 95 Mike Trout 3B - 99 Gary Sheffield SS - 87 Francisco Lindor 2B - 91 Roberto Alomar 1B - 92 Jason Giambi C - 99 Craig Biggio
Ace - 98 Hal Newhouser Closer - 94 Billy Wagner
20-5 in ranked so far and 100 event wins
So far, so good. All the elite cards are performing as expected.

That is most definitely a "flexing on fools" lineup!

How does that Roberto Alomar play? He's my long-term goal at second base.
Started off slow and was worried. But he’s come on lately. Went from batting 8th to leading off for me. I love Alomar cards. This one feels pretty good.

C-Diamond Pudge (been decent for me after last year having some trouble with his sig card). Started off with the Gold Mitch Garver and he hits well. 1B- Just got the Helton and he was good in a couple of conquest games I played in the short time I got today. Before that, was rolling with LS Alonso and that power is no joke. 2B- Currently have LS Story here. He's as expected. SS- Rollins. He's my best hitter by average. 3B- LS Matt Chapman and he's OK. I just put the prospects Royce Lewis here. We'll see. LF- AS Granderson. Has been my best hitter. CF- Gold loyalty Griffey. Started off pretty hot and still is OK, but might be replaced soon. RF- LS Blackmon for a while. Nothing special and I've usually had success with his cards in the past. Just stuck the Twins team collection Torii here. We'll see.
Bench I use LS Carlos Santana, LS Alonso, LS Tatis and I can't remember the other two.
SP- Prospect Nate Person- Stud SP- That diamond Alex Reyes. Haven't used him much SP- LS Charlie Morton. He's hit or miss. SP- Gold Saberhagen. Surprisingly good (working the Mets affinity mission for innings). SP- Currently Mike Clevinger (working the Indians affinity innings).
Bullpen is diamond Kerry Wood (who I haven't used online yet) and a bunch of guys I'm using for affinity innings like LS Nick Anderson, LS Brad Hand, LS Edwin Diaz.
A grain of salt, much of my time the past few days has been on conquest or MTO because I wasn't happy with the play online in the few RS or BR games I've played. Short story: I went 6-0 in BR in the first couple days (pre-patch) and I think I've won two games since in about 3-4 entries.

Havent played much of RS.. but 10-0 so far... C- 91 Pudge - defense is great. Comes up clutch for me when hitting. 1st- FOTF Olson / pre-order Ortiz. I just got Olson, but Ortiz was good hitting. 2nd- FOTF Correa / Diamond Adalberto Mondesi- Mondesi has been a great leadoff hitter. His defense is what made me switch to Correa. Soo we will see. Correa, started slow .. then hit 2 hrs the last game. SS- 99 Larkin- only used in 2 games, haven't hit well. Defense is great. 3rd - FOTF Devers- Hits when I need him too! I hit better with his LS card tho. LF- Granderson- honestly just need 2 more hrs for the mission then putting in FOTF Soto.. CF- Ls Acuna- started slow, getting better. Speed is good. Cannon arm. RF- FOTF Buxton- speed and defense is what I have him for
SP- 98 Newhouser SP- 93 Oswalt SP- 88 Sale SP- FOTF Ohtani SP- 88 Maddux

Love these threads!
Ranked seasons: 0-0 | Waiting on Patch 1.05 which sounds nice so I'll finally be able to jump in. However I'm at 81 event wins so I'm finishing that first.
