No pci homers vs center pci fly outs. Competitive hitting is a lie
-
For all of the hype we got all year for “stick skills matter” and “competitive hitting”, I think we can all agree that the hype was a lie and that the hitting engine is as random as ever.
The current event (I believe I am 19-7 in the event, this isn’t from grief) is probably the best example of how little input really matters, as I have hit just as many no pci home runs and I have ones solid in the pci. Couple that with a ton of middle pci/good timing warning track fly outs (with 125 power at Shippett no less) and we can all see just how awful and random the hitting engine has been.
Please, for 22 have good timing/solid pci contact generate a way higher success rate and get rid of all home runs on zero pci out of the strike zone at least.

I love how some people argue being just a tick on the later side of good means it’s a bad swing. Like y’all never seen an opposite field hit.

I agree. I hit one with Chipper last night and my PCI was off the ball.

All my homers I hit (at least in this current event) seem to be all off PCI shots and I honest to goodness can't make any sense of it. Sometime when you hit the ball, it's a surprise! I actually make really bad contact and it just floats over the wall like it has 150mpn exit velo, most notable against WS players.
It looks to me like it works both ways and it seems like an RNG coinflip of who's going to win. I really hope 22 changes for the better, but I'm not gonna hold my breath...but I'm gonna pre-order the darn game anyway...because misery loves company.
