Stealing 2nd with runner on 3rd

The runner on third always tries to steal home when I try to steal 2nd. Just using steal second buttons, player on third still goes, too.

You can't just hit the steal button. You have to push up on the joystick while you press the steal button to just have the runner on first attempt a steal.

You hold the left stick towards the runner you want to control and press a button. If you aren't sure if it's going to work then hold the stick and hit the advance button and see if both or just one runner takes a step.
