Freeze offs

Playing in 2v2 or play vs friends, I ran into 2 or 3 freeze offs.
How are freeze offs caused and is there a way to avoid them? Does it have to do with internet connection or something within the game itself? -

Freeze offs in this game are caused by animation glitches. You can usually tell if a person is intentionally trying to initiate a freeze off when they are doing stupid things like stepping off the mound and throw canceling then immediately try to throw again then throw canceling again. Or other stupidity like intentionally throwing wild pitches trying to get the catcher to react in strange ways. Also late in this years cycle a routine grounder to right side of the infield could result in freezing the game. Not much can be done apart from creating a new engine to fix the issue which only happens once every 5 or 6 years.
