Just because MLB adopts the universal DH doesn’t mean this game will. I’m not saying it won’t happen but it’s not a certainty until they actually change the game. They didn’t do it for the pandemic year.
Yes it does, and yes they did. There's a reason why we saw the runner on 2nd in extras and the 3 batter min for relievers.
During the pandemic year we did not see the universal DH which was in affect for the whole of mlb that year. It never was incorporated into this game.
Those rules (DH and runner on 2nd) weren't decided on until June, so we didn't see them adopted until this year's game (runner on 2nd that the MLB decided to keep after the 2020 season). We did however see the 3 batter minimum which was put in place before the games release prior to the 2020 season.
The pandemic shortened year knew they were getting the UDH in April of that year. Also the three batter minimum was adopted prior to the season. That’s why the game had it included. The only gameplay changes were to doubleheaders and extra innings. And btw the extra innings garbage with a runner on second base is not coming back to the game. That info comes from a little birdy that I know.
Guess only time will tell and we will see if you're correct or not. If you truly are in the insider game for MLBTS, any news on release? Know the cover athelete?
The only thing that Has been leaked is a possible release date in the second week of April. Nothing on cover athletes or rules changes for in game play ie UDH, extra inninings changes ect ect
Second week of April?? Boooo. That's in the middle of the hellish part of my semester, when exams are going on. I give my senior thesis presentation in April!
It’s only a rumor, I’m sure that more will come the closer we get to a resolution to the CBA.

This is a fantastic thing for baseball. Should've happened years ago. Really hope they implement it in DD. Extra slot for an actual hitter, no more nonsensical moments where you have to hit in a pitching moment or hit with pitchers in an AL park. The only con is you don't get a free out when the opposing pitcher is up, but with how easy pitching is this year not like that really matters lol.

Thank you! This is what I've been wanting for years.

Strategy out the window.
A gorilla can now be an affective MLB manager.
What's next?
A team for offense and a separate one for defense? -

A team for offense and a separate one for defense?Strategy still exists outside of just deciding to have your pitcher bunt or when to pinch hit for him. This decision is about growing the sport and bringing in more fans. Very few people outside of hardcore purists actually like to watch pitchers try to hit (or bunt). Home runs and offense is what sells and I would 100% rather see a real hitter take some good hacks than watch a pitcher flail around at the plate.

I agree with you 100% on all of your points.
There's just a part of me that says that the game is meant to be played the old way.
There's so much specialization now-- I think it actually slows the game down.
Plus I'm pretty old.
I would rather see the ball in play more.
Right now the game is strike outs and home runs.
It's become a boring game. -

It's become a boring game. That's true, I think that's why they've implemented some things to speed the game up, such as the pitching clock and 3 batter minimum. It is all about the 3 true outcomes now, but I don't know if anything can really be done about that. At least without pitchers hitting there might be a couple fewer strikeouts and a few more homers lol.

Also, if The Show implements it, your bench becomes kind of redundant.
Especially if you use a lot of switch hitters.
Having to plan around your pitcher was always fun.
I spent a lot of time picking bench players-- who's clutch, who can play multiple positions, one lefty and one righty with 125 power, speed, etc.
I'm not saying we won't use our benches, but you don't see subs in the AL the way you do/did in the NL. -

You still need speed if you need to pinch run, and you can platoon players without having to worry about running out of bench bats. Plus I think the trade off of having an extra spot in the lineup for a hitter 100% of the time makes up for the bench bats youre using 50% of the time. And the dh gives you a spot to use guys who are slow or not good on defense without compromising your defense. I.e. big papi or Ralph kiner or guys like that

A team for offense and a separate one for defense? What is it and all of this strategy talk? It's getting old, and if people have a better justification for this absurdity of having to bat with a pitcher in an American League game, I'm all ears.

When the pitcher is about to come up to bat, I use that as a good time to grab some snacks or go to the bathroom.
