XSX (FreeSync) = H2H Competive Advantage?
-
Apparently, XSX currently supports AMD FreeSync VRR with HDMI 2.1, however, the PS5 console does not quite yet support VRR (coming in 2022?).
While the MLBTS21 game itself is limited at 60fps on both next gen consoles, doesn't having VRR active on the XSX help to reduce potential framerate or input lag issues in some games due to periodic P2P latency? ...and if so, doesn't this give XSX users (w/ HDMI 2.1 and VRR active) a competitive advantage in online H2H games vs everyone else?
It seems to me, that having this VRR technology active in an online matchup would help the XSX user see pitches more clearly...in games that have latency due to a poor connection.

As far as I know, VRR is useless for 60hz.

This is something id love a moderator to respond to. Why is there never clarity on this type of technical aspect of the game? I’d love to know stuff like this. Is there a competitive advantage to using a monitor? Is there a competitive advantage to using a wired connection vs wireless? Stuff like this would be cool for them to give us the details on instead of everyone just speculating.

They know the shiny new cards will distract most players and keep them for asking the hard questions. The dev team has always pretty much been MIA. You see them at the start of the year when the game is about to release and that’s about it.

As long as the FPS isnt dipping below 60 VRR is useless. If it is keeping a constant FR of 60. VRR would be needed if the game could go up to 120 FPS. As it would not be able to keep a constant 120 FPS and would need VRR to help smooth it out as it dipped. That is one reason PS5 doesnt have many 120 FPS games right now and the ones they do scale down to hit that mark consistently. Its because they dont have VRR yet. I think PS5 gets an update when the new 2022 TV models come out. 2022 should be the year of gaming TV's. I already Have the X85J which has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and just got VRR added in December. But other companies like LG are suppose to have some smaller models like 42" available this year with OLED panels which are easily the best gaming experience right now. Basically near instant response times and super low input lag. Most other model TV's and Monitors at best can do 4-5ms Response times despite what they may advertise.

Lag from framerates and internet connection are totally unrelated. VRR would not help this.
