Did they change something with swings or is my controller having issues?

So today I have kind of jumped back in to the game, just playing some conquest games but there is something happening that is annoying and making me want to just walk away again.

When I am up to bat, I usually work the count against the CPU waiting for a good pitch but today, several times a game, at least, I get a good pitch and hit the normal swing button and the batter starts a swing and then just pulls it back for no reason. Next pitch I hit the same button the same way and he takes a full swing. This non swing causes me to take strike three when I told it to swing, and once Tyler O'Neill should have crushed one and took a little mini swing and weakly popped out to the second baseman.

I have not noticed an issue with the controller in any other games that I play. I don't have any issues with the button when pitching either. After 100's of hours playing offline I am very familiar with how the game plays and this is new (for me).
