Signature Monte Irvin....
McCovey must be dropping soon.
-
Eric before you played this game, SDS had a sick sense of humor. They actually had the rights to Mario Mendoza.
I was hoping you would say that Mario is back. Irvin will have to do.

No way, seriously????? That's awesome. Yeah, I definitely thought this was a bit of a troll job. Nothing against Monte Irvin, I'll complete the program because I couldn't stand looking at his blanked out card in my collection. But is anyone gonna use him at this stage?
-
Monte Irvin???? Nice guy....helped Mays in his rookie year adjust to the big leagues.......Where is McCovey?.....you know the HOFer???????
-
Theres no better power move than having Mendoza as your leadoff hitter. I miss those times.
Irvin has a decent swing. Hes a win for theme team players, definitely. But you're right, hes not making anyone's god squad.

The most fun I ever had in this game was McCovey at San Fran, hitting dingers into the cove, people rage quitting before it could land.
I cant think of the name of that cove, but if it was up to me, I would name it after Willie.

Who da fuq is this guy

Heck yeah, it is up to you my man. I like the image of that. McCovey belting bombs into his cove and then your screen fades as a the rage quit ensues.
Looking forward to the day real soon when they drop McCovey. I think they are gonna have bosses in the 10th inning and my guesses are officially:
Willie McCovey
Albert Pujols
Warren SpahnOr Kirby Puckett, or Jeff Bagwell, or Reggie Stocker....Mario Mendoza....what were we talking about?

Has anyone checked his Cove? He might be paddling out there.

It is 'McCovey Cove.'
I'm sure a lot will not know who Monte is. Before my time, but I'm a student of the game.
This is off topic, but one of my Grandma's used to rave about Johnny Mize. Why is he not in the game? -

https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/monte-irvin/Wow thanks for the link. Amazing how many good players came from Alabama that became Greats in the major leagues. No disrespect to Monte but I've been waiting for McCovey's 99 card for what seems like forever.

Irvin was an Orange HS alum in Northern NJ.....when I was in HS, they were in our conference so I always would look up what major leaguers came from our area/played for teams in the area, was pretty cool to see he was from there given his impact as an african american baseball player. Their baseball team was arguably one of the worst in the state, but it was still cool nonetheless.
With that said, I'm a little disappointed in this choice. Not a single person in this forum can admit Irvin will make their lineup, and at this stage in the game I feel it should have been someone new or different that would get people excited. Oh well, guess there is always 10th inning.

This one could take awhile...
2 extra basses against the Braves (Acuna has robbed me twice already)
8 bases against Scherzer at Polo ground
2 hits one for extra bases
1 extra base hit
1 home run
6 bases against the Yankees at old yankee stadium -
Monte Irvin has one of the nicest swing of any right handed hitter. I love this guy!!

It really does feel like we’ll get regular bosses next inning at this point. Unless they’re not going to do updates on Pujols, Puckett, Bagwell and McCovey. Not sure how many more ways they can release them at this point. They can’t all be BR, event or WS rewards, can they? We have a 97 Pujols at least. I’m going to be real bummed if we don’t get an upgraded Puckett.
Editors note: I really hope any 99 Pujols doesn’t have that funky foot twist.

Anyway, I've decided that I'm taking a new approach with Moments.
The first attempt is me just laying the controller down and see where the computer pitches.
Then I'll play it. If I don't beat it withing three attempts; I skip it. If I can't make up the points another way (H2H, Exchange, or Play vs CPU) and it's needed to get the final card; then I don't get that card.
That's being said; as soon as I saw Scherzer throw 8 straight pitches outside the strike zone during my preview attempt; I decided to skip that mission and try for either 5 hits with LFers or 3 HRs with Giants players online for the final points.
It says alot that I would rather deal with possible online toxicity and take longer to finish the program than to deal with part of a Moment.
