Who Else Thinks The Lockout Is Going To Affect The Show '22?

At the moment, my initial feeling is this lockout may last awhile. I'm sure that that would affect the release date for '22.
Both sides don't like each other, and humans always screw up good things, but the owners want a salary cap, yet there's no way the MLBPA will allow it.
No matter how much Jeff Passan says: 'Spring training isn't around the corner, there's plenty of time to work this out,' I feel things may drag out.
Correa, Freeman and the rest of the FA's will have to wait to sign, meaning they'll be on the Shows FA list when '22 drops.

Thoughts?The fact that free agents have been signed already this year is promising, baseballs CBA has always been a mess but they always seem to find a way to work things out.

It may effect free agents and where guys are playing when the game comes out, might cut into topps now/monthly programs, but not much else

Yikes... I was 30 when the 94 strike took place. I distinctly remember not caring when the game came back. It took a good 3 years or so before I got back into caring about it again.

All the MLB and team websites have no indication of current players. therefore, I’m surprised they didn’t have to shut down the game or something. Because they’re making money on it. If the season is delayed, so will MLBTS22

doubt it, when the nba had a lockout in 2012 2k still dropped on at the same release time.

I still think that was a conspiracy to rob a World Series from the Expos, wouldn’t be great if Canadian teams were winning all the championships. But seriously that ‘94 team was legit, the best that never was.

This is why the homerun race with Big Mac and Sammy was such a great thing. It brought a lot of old fans and new fans back to the game. That 94 strike turned a lot of fans off for many years. I was just a young’n. Right around 93-94 is when I started playing tee ball and instructional. I remember at 7-8 years old being so upset that there was no baseball because I just started learning the sport.
With huge tv contracts and legal sports betting practically everywhere i don’t see this lasting super long

Players rights and team rights are separate, and considering this whole thing is about money I can’t see either side giving up a pay cheque by asking SDS to shut down the game.

Covid delaying the season didn’t stop 20 from getting released on time. But the labor issue is a bit of a different kettle of fish.
This has to be absolutely killing the team who definitely didn’t want short pre-sales 2 years in a row.

I quit playing baseball at college when it happened. Just like you, it really affected my desire to follow MLB and enjoyment of the game for a while. Hopefully they figure this one out before it gets to that point.

Here’s a thought. If the lockout is still going on when 22 is released, would the big names that are still not signed with a team be in the free agent pool in terms of collections?
