All evidence the league will use in pushing for expanded playoffs.
-
Padres collapse has greatly affected my mental health

And the Jays might miss the playoffs with the 3rd best run differential in their league and the 5th best in baseball. Crazy week coming up.
I'm pretty sure Seattle might be the only 90 win team in MLB history with a negative run differential too. Could be wrong on that though
Edit: there have been two more, the 97 Giants and 07 Diamondbacks

Who doesn’t want expanded playoffs, honestly it’s better for the sport to have 6-8 teams in depending if they do the 7 team NFL model of and 8 team playoff... The Al this year has 7 teams worthy of being in, so what if a team that doesn’t belong will get in every once in a while, it would create more fun and give more fanbases hope.

The players don't want it as they believe it will impact salaries as teams won't have to pay for free agents if the know they can secure the 7 or 8th seed with the team they have.

The scenarios they were drawing up for the potential four way tie for the AL Wild Card is insane, although unlikely to happen.
As a Jays fan I’m enjoying this great baseball while also slowly losing my sanity. Whatever happens I think this team will be a legit threat in the coming years. Fingers crossed we can resign Semien and Ray, ownership has the money!
This off season is like to see one more 3-5 starter, a reliable bullpen arm, preferably a lefty to compliment Mayza and a everyday 3B. I like Espinal but I think he’s better served as a bench/utility player.

Day 1 of being sane.
-
The AL will end up with 4 90+ win teams, only two might make the wildcard and the Rays are already in.
-
Braves and Phillies fighting for the division.
-
Can the Mariners sneak in for the WC game?
-
Dodgers winning 100 and going to WC game, can they flip it around and stun the Giants by taking the division?
This is going to be a crazy week, you also have the Cardinals aiming for history. Can they keep the win streak alive?

I'm enjoying it as a M's fan. Like how the Jays and Yanks will beat each other up for the next few days which should help the M's. Also, hoping the O's play spoilers as they play the BoSox and then the Jays.

There is actually a 5-way tie scenario too, but it requires Baltimore to win 4 out of 6, so while statistically possible, realistically impossible

If they can keep beating Oakland they should be in good shape. Really this is like the playoffs coming a week early.

Like the Red Sox and Yankees last series?

We definitely had the A's number this season!

I don't like the Yanks, but them and the O's can really help out the M's.

I think we can safely say that the MLB playoffs start tonight because that's what the next week will be is playoff level baseball. Teams like the O's will want to play hard as their world series would be to eliminate a team. They did it to Boston in 2011.

The last week of the season has been the M's playoffs for the past 20 years!
-
The Dodgers have the 2nd best record in MLB and it is ridiculous that their entire season may come down to a single playoff game. Playoff seeding should be based on record, not division standing.

Well, it used to be second place teams didn't have a chance in playoffs regardless of records!

The M's always seem to surprise, I did not expect this team to compete for another 2/3 years so whatever happens this week it's a win for them in my opinion. The team in 2001 that won 116 with no superstars other then Ichiro who was a rookie is another example.

2016 was fun, until they lost game #163!

It used to be only the two teams with the best record in in the AL vs. NL. So I think divisions are important. Plus, that’s mostly who you play.
