Use of DH

I’m new to the forum and this is my first year playing the Show… I’m totally hooked and love DD…
But why is there no DH??
Sorry if this has been covered before…

It will be there next year probably. Whenever it becomes universal.

There's no reason to have the pitcher hit, and with so many hitters it makes more sense to have a universal DH in this game.

I have so many players like I loved Fielder and now hes obsolete with Thomas

They used to have it this way and it sucked because you would have an all lefty llineup and all righry lineup. If they allow you to set two different lineups depending on the pitchers throwing arm then you should have to use the same players just different set ups

The option to use a DH and not seeing lineups ahead of time takes away some strategy.. I really enjoy the show because of the realistic strategy.. just as managers of MLB teams set their lineups based on the pitcher (R/L matchups, individual success rates, or capitalizing on hot streaks) I want to do the same…

If you use that theory, neither are the playoffs, inter-league play, and probably many other things that are part of the game. DH will become universal.

I hit well with Baumgartner and Hernandez so I will miss hitting with them if this happens.

Horrible idea. You can make your team have the matchup advantage every game. You can also exploit it by using an opener one hand, and then switching to an opposite handed starter.

I remember being at a.phillies playoff game and Brett Myers had like a 15 pitch at bat the place was going crazy. When pitchers do something at the plate it's exciting.

Yes it’s been discussed and the reason is simple: with a DH, your bench becomes obsolete. Also, it forces you to balance between keeping a got pitcher in the game or trying to get an important run

I was joking. I’ve wondered why the game hasn’t used it.
It’s all good. I know there really are a lot of people that say DH isn’t real baseball, or even “my team’s pitchers can hit.” I don’t think those teams would use those pitchers as the DH if/when it is an option.

Exactly this. It’s about selling stubs. With no DH you need to have a full bench and bullpen. If there was a DH you would only need one bat and you could let deGrom or Ryan (or whoever else) throw all 9.
