Missing inside pitches
-
In a nutshell, I cannot hit inside pitches. I know the hitting in the game right now is not ideal but I just can't seem to turn on those types of pitches. I'd consider myself a decent player but something that has always haunted me are inside pitches. I'm 18-4 and in Wild Card, but I cannot hit inside pitches and if I really want to make a push for WS I have to learn to hit inside pitches. Every time I take a hack at one I always get Late/Jammed and a weak pop out to the opposite field.
Any tips on how to hit inside heaters?
-
Wish I could help you. I can sit there and tell myself to swing right away on an inside fastball. Then I still find a way to drop the pci to the bottom and be late. The. Rage ensues.
-
If you're 18-4, then inside pitches can go fly a kite. You're killing it.
I hit inside pitches and high pitches decently and I'm 15-4.
If your record is that good, you're doing it right... -

I feel ya, when I try to sit fastball inside I get way to excited the flailing at a pitch 10 feet out of the zone, I'm not sure if it's just a problem I need to figure out on my own or if its some magical trick that I'm missing.

I did finally get a feel for it last year. By June I was playing all cpu games on hall of fame and I felt confident at at least a chance at cs every season.
This year I’m still in regular season and I swear the pitch speeds are not at veteran or even all star level. Everything is like 1000 miles per hour. I’m all for increased pitch speeds at higher levels, but this seems a little extreme.
Not sure what to believe, though. 80 percent say pitch speeds are great and 20 percent say they are too slow.
Maybe I’m just pressing. Either way, still can hit a fastball. So, if you play me, throw fastball down the middle or in any of the upper corner. I won’t even be close.

My trick is be insanely patient and sit on what my opponent is spamming. Also what my opponent is able to throw for strikes. That's literally it...
If he can't locate a fastball, I'll wait for offspeed. Or vise versa...
Location I don't think about. I let my instincts do that. If you think about location, you've already lost... I reset my mindset whenever it reverts to that.
All along making the pitcher come to me...
That's my theory. Doesn't always work out but that's baseball...
Even Barry Bonds with a head the size of a planet juiced on roids only got on base 50% of the time....

Exactly. It's probably just in my head or maybe it's a new game and I just have to adjust to it who knows at this point

You have a lot of good points I'll definitely take that into consideration, thanks for the advice I appreciate it

Are you using zone and strike zone cam? How’s your input lag on your tv/monitor? I typically assume people that are flailing at offspeed because they’re trying to turn on inside pitches is due to either using directional, not an ideal camera angle, or their input lag makes them have to make a decision much faster than it should.

This thread makes me feel so much better about myself knowing everyone else struggles just like me
-
If you want, we can practice online and ill throw inside pitches to you
-
Work on sliding the PCI over. I know my first instinct is to try to get under it. So you’re pulling it down if you’re like me. Work on going side to side more.

This advice is, or maybe I should say mindset is great. I think because of “zone” hitting people are always too focused of location. The Barry bonds line is hilarious
also being patient, and sitting on pitches the opponent is spamming, and what they are able to throw over for strikes. Is also another great tip. sounds simple...but it’s really one of the most important things to focus on In my opinion.

Use both zone/strikezone. also play on a monitor
