Position players as pitchers

Can you not pitch a position player as a pitcher now? I tried using home run derby ohtani and it wouldn't let me

You need a large lead, and then you can leave them in after pinch hitting for the pitcher. I've done it with that Ohtani card in the moonshot event. I think it's 6 runs.

Can you do that with any position player? Or does it have to be a player that has pitched at some point in time in their careers?

Any position player will work. I've done it with regular position players too.

If you are up 6 runs or down 6 runs, you can bring in any position player to pitch, regardless if they have pitcher as a secondary or not

Thanks I was doing an angles team build and was gonna have ohtani and the rp who is a first baseman. Ruined my fun lol I don't have ohtani pitcher yet and I don't wanna go live series
