I can’t think of a better way to say it. We’re only in the “5th inning” and I’m completely bored and disappointed. I can’t get myself to play h2h because hoping to at least get a hit in a 9 inning game holds no appeal. I have Mookie, Mariano, Shohei, Jackie, Chipper and 1.7 million in stubs and I’m wondering why I even wasted my time. It doesn’t matter what hitter you have if you can’t hit you can’t hit and I can’t hit. This game is not fun it’s work, my first and last year buying this game, I’m in my 40s I’m getting too old to waste my time on trash like this, I wonder how many others feel the same way. I just wish someone would bring “Baseball Stars” from Nintendo back, I’m tempted to buy an old Nintendo just to have a fun experience with a baseball game. Baseball Simulator 1000 was more fun than this game. It looks great and there’s tons of content but there is zero fun factor with this game.
Have you tried one of the hitting interfaces besides zone…. Maybe it just isn’t for you?

The older I get the more difficult it is to keep up with the speed of some games. This one in particular. I’m still ok but years ago I was World Series every season... blah.. blah. I think the game is fine just I’m getting worse at a game that requires fast recognition and controller precision. Video games are a young mans sport.

I concur with the gent who suggested trying a different hitting interface. I’m 47, for reference with regard to declining motor skills, and I love playing with analog controls. I still get shut down frequently (but that’s what deGrom should do to teams), but it isn’t uncommon to get hits, and they’re not even all home runs (analog provides this service, being so kind as to adjust your plate coverage high or low for you).

Have to agree here. Been playing DD religiously for 5 years now. The cards are awesome. In theory the content is fun. But I started realizing the last couple years of this game that it’s not fun at all. The reason we keep coming back and grinding this game is because it’s an addiction, not because it’s fun. And once you realize this it’s just mind blowing….how they’re able to keep pumping the same stuff out and we keep grinding it even though the game is not enjoyable.
I have tried to play other games to take a break but I can’t get into anything except uncharted. I beat all those. Not sure what to do now. It might just be time to quit playing video games lol

Bro, Super Baseball Simulator 1000 was the greatest game ever and so was Extra Innings! I can hear the intro announcer saying "Wel, Wel, Welcome to... Extra Inning!" (leaving out the S) for some reason. Lol
And I agree. This is my second year playing and this game is much worse than 20. Something is way off with it.

Exactly. You can only get the exact same cards over and over for so long...

Maybe take a break. Shake off the fomo, you have plenty of stubs, and play other games.

Yeah, I try to not do long grinds and only play events for rewards and packs. 3 inning games are quick and less frustrating than a 9 inn RS snooze fest. Offline grinding is a thing of the past for me as it is time consuming and mind numbing. With that said you may be better off not playing RS as it is a complete sweat fest. I get wayyyy more enjoyment without RS and offline griding.
I agree that they use our addiction to mlb baseball against us!

If you lived on a round earth the ball would travel further
What if the ballpark was aligned in a North-South direction with the batter trying to hit the ball towards the equator?
Or if the hitter was hitting towards the East with the Earth's rotation?

I'm 47 too, and Directional just doesn't work beyond All-Star.
You have to be able to hit pitches off the plate, and it just doesn't happen.
I have found zone to be ridiculously uneven, even when I'm the one pulling sinkers a foot outside for 400ft homers.
Bottom line is there is only one hitting interface that the developers and professional players put their time into and play with: Zone. -
This is my first DD in 4 years and tbh I can’t imagine myself grinding like I have done this year every year!
-
Sorry you’re bored/bummed. I think it’s fun.
-
The content is great and I want to play; but as soon as my fielder misses a tag, a player with 20 bunt lays down a bunt with the ball outside the zone, or someone hits a no PCI HR against me, I’m reminded why the gameplay makes the game not so fun.
-
OMG the little boys who bunt every at bat, perfect bunts by pwr hitters, getting perfect bunts when you intentionally throw it out of zone. Way high or outside and they still get it down. I have SS of Albies bunting a ball I threw 3 ft outside and his left foot is on home plate as he contacts the ball for a perfect bunt! It's just like old days of bunt cheesing. Why you'd want to play that way is beyond me, just ruins the game!

Bottom line is there is only one hitting interface that the developers and professional players put their time into and play with: Zone.Directional is much more difficult above All Star, but I’m suggesting analog, not directional. You absolutely can hit pitches off the plate with analog, though, again, you’re right that zone allows for some bendy-wrist maneuvers that defy both physics and the limits of human body mechanics. It’s overpowered, unrealistic, and the mechanic belongs in the FPS genre, not in a baseball game.
What devs and professional players do is of no concern to me; I have more fun with analog, so I do that.

THIS.
In my 40's too, a teacher so I get time in the summer to grind if I want. Thought I'd give DD a fair try this year. It's a great mode that isn't predatory, but I cannot fathom starting over every year.
If SDS instituted a multiyear binder that rewarded multi-year DD grinds, I'd be tempted. They'd also be a trailblazer and make billions off of it. But that won't happen, and I'm already burned out on the grind -- probably won't make it much farther in the inning program this year and I find that...relieving.
