Bro, I was Directional for years. It's WAY tougher than Zone.
Zone is an absolute joke. Just get your PCI in the neighborhood with decent timing and watch it fly!
Change up 2 ft off the plate?
Get it there and watch Kenny Lofton go upper deck.
It is way tougher than that the higher you go, obviously.
But zone, in my opinion, takes card attributes almost completely out of the equation.
Hence, the REALLY good zone hitters can go yard with relief pitchers... It happens!
Directional = Realism-- pull, push, try to hit fly ball, grounder.
Zone = Video Game. Hit anything in the same zip code.
It's a video game, so when in Rome...

    Furthermore...
The PCI is your 2nd set of eyes, so when you swing and miss, it's because your eyes didn't get to/ see the ball.
Or your eyes grossly misinterpreted an inside pitch for a pitch high and away.
Or your eyes were sternly focused in one area and unable to see peripherally.
    It's a video game.

I switched to directional last year and haven't looked back. Really enjoy it, more casual, and I'm offline gamer so it's very rewarding for me.

I use to be a zone hitter since MLB the Show back on PS2 and the old high heat games.

Anyway, just for the heck of it, i'm thinking about trying Zone again.

If I turn the marker off, does it do anything to the game? I never liked that marker as it feels like I concentrate more on getting the marker on the ball rather than just swinging where the ball is at.

I usually turn it off but when I am in a slump Inwill turn it to fade off. Gives u a look at the size of batters pci but disappears once pitcher starts motion

AND, your eyes and bat get smaller the better you get.
My point being, it's a video game.

    Eh, don't mind me.
I'm just bitter because my own career was cut short because my PCI eyes went bad when I was 21. My PCI bat shrunk as well... Among other things.
Course we were poor back then. My parents couldn't afford a new set of PCI eyes, and I never forgave them.

And we didn't have these fancy outer PCI's when I played.
You had one, and it was the size of a flea.
    Star fighter? Reverb? Ya, right!
    PPP? No sir!
We just pressed the button and prayed.

Thank you. I was a zone snob too for all those years I played Zone. I agree that directional takes user skill + player rating into account. Ya I know there's RNG but there's a lot of RNG w/ Zone too.

Timing is way less forgiving with directional, too…
