What if the PCI was represented three dimensionally? If you had a pull hitter, it would be angled toward pull side. A push hitter would have it angled toward opposite field and a neutral hitter would have their PCI be well, neutral.
Maybe shape the PCI like the head of a 3 wood. The feedback would then show how deep into the pci contact was made. So for a push hitter, perfect contact would be deeper into the PCI.

And what if power swing, normal, and contact swings controlled launch angle? You’d press the button of the swing you wanted before the pitcher threw the ball and the angle of your PCI would change. The power swing would be angled up to facilitate hitting a ball in the air. And you could imagine what the other swing types would do. I feel like hitters Tony Gwynn and other high contact and low power guys would really benefit from something like this.

    Thoughts?

Wait a second, I remember all star baseball 2000 for the N64 had an adjustable pci like this. You just adjusted it pre-pitch. So it’s been done before. Wouldn’t something like that work really well with this hitting engine? Or no?

And they could scrap the feedback meter and just show the ball at the point of contact in regards to the pci because early or late would be represented by its depth in the PCI.

I like these ideas a lot! I think a 3 dimensional PCI could also give way to an option to stand in different parts of the batter's box with batters. A 3 dimensional strike zone IRL baseball could come out of automated ball/strike calls if home plate umpires are removed 1 day.
