Play VS CPU Game Resulting in a Friendly Quit?

I've been playing against the CPU doing Team Affinity missions and after every game or every other game, there will be no post game PXP added or program progress. Once you back out of that screen, another screen shows up saying that the game had resulted in a friendly quit. Then, when you try to play another Play VS CPU game, the game tells you that you need 5 starting pitchers on your squad or that you need X amount of hitters on your squad in order to play. Is this an issue with TA3 cards being in your lineup? Really frustrating when you complete a handful of the missions in one game only to back out and you aren't rewarded for any of it.
