There’s no reason to use Covid as an excuse for poor work products. My director was strongly against working from home until Covid forced it upon him and we have been working from since March 2020. It’s been going so well that he’s changed his mind on it to the point he wants to make it permanent where we will only have one floor in the building instead of three for settlement conferences or preparing the day of hearings.
This is everywhere and I know what you are saying. You are not wrong, but it is not working from home, but corporations freeze headcounts... The devs are potentially ( I don't know 100% the story) asked to support like 2X more players and many different codes and consoles.
And that’s everywhere too, including where I work at. People have been leaving and the positions aren’t being filled so I’m forced to carry more of the caseload and to add on top, this year is probably the busiest in terms of filings in the almost eight years I’ve worked here. Even then, my work gets done at a high standard because my name is on it for the public to read and criticize. Unlike SDS employees, my actual name is on it for the world to see. When I mess up, I have people attacking my work from various individuals to advocacy groups. I don’t get to use the excuse that we have double the work with decreased headcount. I know my deadlines and so does SDS. If I put out a bad work, you get fired.

I wish people would stop letting corporations hide behind covid. They still released a broken product a month late and for full price. They knew there would be more people than ever playing and they didn't stress test their servers. So for the first 3 weeks you just couldn't play. They have read the comments for months about contact swings and ppp. They allowed and still allow so many people to exploit and cheat the game with no consequence.
I'm sorry, but a gameplay patch 2 months into an already shortened game cycle doesn't warrant me praising them.
I enjoy the game and I'm glad they patched what they did. But I don't understand why we as gamers allow these companies to sell us copy and pasted broken garbage and then when they finally fix it we are supposed to bow down. Call me crazy but I feel like these million dollar companies should be able to sell us a working product on day one or they shouldn't be selling them at all.
I find a little humor a Stros fan would complain about people cheating the game.
Edit... I felt bad about being rude

tired of hearing covid be used as an excuse for companies like SDS who easily could have operated like normal the whole time safely by just wearing mask and staying home if you are feeling sick. I have worked the entire time since covid in a much more risky field than a company that literally 95% of the work being done is at a desk in front of computer where its so easy to work and isolate from other workers. I appreciate the update and not complaining about the game... just frustrating hearing all the sallies crying covid and not working through it.
What if they mess up the code and no-one can play the game. Hey I respect that you work in a high risk field, but if you are a doctor you wouldn't be the world expert in cold fusion right? Look at the title. You can blame the corporations all you want, I am just thanking the people that worked in this environment. IF anyone thinks software engineers are all Bill Gates, then they are delusional with the power structure.

You are a superstar employee and you should be promoted and get paid at the end of the year. I hope you get PAID. Superstar doesn't apply to 100% of the situation man. It is impossible for everyone to be in the top 1%

If they mess up the code... it had nothing to do with covid. Im not saying I don't appreciate the workers who worked through this... because I definitely do, I'm saying I don't think SDS is a risky field to work in during Covid and should not be an excuse in any way to put out a half effort product.

Actually, I was promoted back in April because I’m capable of adapting. Another guy was fired this past year because he couldn’t cut it. Everyone was in the same position as him and he couldn’t adapt. Excuses make people lazy.

Not sure I like the pinpoint changes or not. Only played event games and these common pitching cards have terrible control. I would imagine my control will be more or less unchanged with Lee, Glavine, Rivera, etc. But we will see.

Thank you for the gameplay updates. You listened to the community and spent the time to update this. I don't play any other video games and I bought a PS5 to maximize this game too. Releasing this game on many consoles and have the additional features was super ambitious and I am sure people were forced to do A LOT more with a lot less during Covid-19 since this seems to be motto for corporations.
Refreshing to see a little positivity and gratitude... thanks for taking the time to post something that acknowledges the human element behind this game and doesn't carry the typical stink of entitled whining. Bottom line is that they didn't have to do a [censored] thing, but they did, and while I'm sure many would have liked to see it sooner, it's nice to see a little reason and understanding from someone who didn't get exactly what they wanted when they wanted it in this "all-things-right-now" world...
Sad that you feel like you need to apologize for it, because you don't. Good on you for showing some decency, which is really all you can do; let the quibblers do their thing and pay no mind.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, OP.

Have you ever actually had a job?

They have to support like 4 more different consoles? I am not a software developer and I don't know the difference. I design databases and build analytics. If someone asks me to support Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI, they are quite different with the same base SQL code. It would take me a lot more time and maybe I am just incompetent.

What a virtue signalling cringe worthy post. I honestly vomited in my mouth…and then out onto the floor…a lot.

Contact swing fix was mentioned in the 2nd stream of the year. Maybe they took their time to make sure the fix wouldn’t break any other hitting aspects.

I hope you have a great weekend buddy. I have empathy for hard work and if you think you can do better then you should create the new MLB game.

Ahh good ole Tableau. Used to sell against that when I was with Hitachi Vantara and pitching our Pentaho offering. Was tough to sell when imo, Tableau had a far superior product lol

I wonder if those complaining so much realize that most games right now don't have near the polish or progression that would normally be seen. Remote work with software devs has slowed even the biggest companies, and the fact they went from 2 to 4 consoles is pretty impressive too. Perfect game? Nope. But at least they're listening with the limits they have. Oh, and even movies right now are WAY behind schedule... Top Gun 2 was supposed to be out last year, now not until November.

I understand you. I was the one creating posts in the tech test complaining about it. I’m happy we have a fix, whatever changes they made to the code will carry on for future iterations of the game, so I’ll happily take it a lil later than desired but well done.

I’m glad I could help.
That vomit was likely the nicest and most honest thing to come out of your mouth in a while… but keep your head up, little buckaroo; I’m sure your life will get better some day real soon and you won’t feel the need to be such a miserable little [censored] all of the time.
Have a lovely day

Yeah, I'm a teacher and we kept our school open mostly during covid. It's been a convenient excuse, and I wouldn't let these devs get away with it.
They're making WAAAAY more money having 2 generations of consoles and Xbox added this year.
They f'ed up RTTS, did NOTHING for Franchise, and servers were wack a month into the season.
No excuses.
Worst thing -- they actively avoided the words "sorry" and "apologize" when they finally addressed the issue. Pure corporate trash.
