Put it this way. Chapman has 26 scoreless appearances in 32 games. That is elite, no reason to go gold.
And 15 runs in last 5 2/3, plenty of reason
I disagree. 26 scoreless appearances is a ton, everybody is going to get blown up somewhere, for Chapman its been blown in 6 games, its not a real detriment to his season.
Yankees fans disagree Cole and Chapman were both booed off the field yesterday and they won. lol.... when your a .500 team with one the highest payrolls in sports.... you expect more than average performances, especially from your 325 million dollar pitcher. Glad I'm not a Yankees fan.
Pretty sure they lost the game they got booed off the fieldyeah... i goofed on that one. I just saw they went 1-1 in a doubleheader yesterday. I had just read that they were booed off the field the first game and won the second.... just had seen a headline they were both booed off on independence day when I posted. either way the Yankees are the laughing stock of baseball right now and its great when they sign any free agent they want every year... and teams like Tampa can win consistently every year with 20% of the payroll.

A lot of Yankee fans are also fairweather babies.

He has given up 17 runs in 29 innings this year.... that is not elite at all
-
Chapman:
First 20 innings of season:
6 hits, 2 runs(1 earned), 9 walks, 38 KsSince:
9.2 IP, 16 hits, 15 runs(14 earned), 13 walks, 14 KsIf this trend continues to the next update I think it's fair to drop him to gold.

You were right, just goes to show how fickle SDS is with their updates anymore. 4 bad games was enough to get Chapman down.

fickle???? He has a 4.55 era and hes supposed to be a shutdown late game pitcher. If every pitcher with better numbers was diamond.... more than half the league would be diamond. example: Whitlock from Boston has allowed 8 less earned runs than Chapman and pitched 15 more innings and is bronze unusable in the game.... honestly Chapman should be silver next update if he keeps pitching like he has.

Again, you have to categorize relievers differently than starting pitchers and ERA is not how you do it. Chapman has literally only had 4 bad games all season. I say fickle because SDS doesn't let players with great history sit and wait it out to see if they turn things around like in pretty much every year prior. They've also been making upgrades and downgrades that make no sense (Semien as an example).

Hader/Soto may be replacing in pen soon. Not sure yet.

He isn’t going gold.
Well, he did
Which is crazy because they let Lindor struggle for 2 months before dropping him

4 bad games is a lot for an elite reliever.... his runs allowed is bad. He has allowed 17 runs in like 29 I.P.... that is bad. The Red Sox (team i follow) have 4 relievers with less runs in more innings pitched... point is the Sox dont have 4 deserving diamond relievers and Chapman is playing worse than all of them. I dont really get the upgrade downgrade system in this game tbh, but just as a casual fan.... Chapman shouldnt even be a gold right now... he is pitching more like the silver and bronze relievers this season. If he doesnt improve quickly he wont even be getting called on in close games anymore... thats not elite.

I disagree, Chapman is still elite. Everyone is always about "what have you done for me lately" while completely disregarding everything before a downfall. Everyone forgets he started the season with 18 consecutive scoreless outings, 23 outings having only given up 1 run. Then he has the 4 ER loss, has back to back bad outings giving up 5 ER in 0.1 IP. Fast forward 4 more games, good run, gave up 1 ER in those 4 apperances.
Now enter the slide, 3 outings, 9 ER. Chapman is still elite, he is on a slide, but to say he isn't elite is a joke. The history of his career is elite, the first few months, elite, everyone forgets about these things.
And guess what, you're gonna have these stretches where you can't get people out. Thats baseball, Chapman is slumping I agree, but you can't take 4 really bad outings and say a guy lost his stuff.
