It's a crutch in my opinion. Its this years way of saying that they shouldn't lose a game. The way I look at it is this... Less than 2% of people that play are on social media forums... Maybe 10-15% watch YouTube videos regularly. My point is that maybe 15% of people who play use contact swing or even know that its cheesy online. Its a real small percentage imo

I think you’re waaaay under-estimating the amount of people that watch YT or Twitch. I’d guess closer to 50% of the player base checks out some sort of video at least weekly. Especially with Xbox users being added, one of the first things new players do is go to YouTube to see how the game is played and see what tricks/gimmicks/exploits are available to make themselves better as quickly as possible. Then it’s checked regularly to see what the new meta is that’s available. If it was as low as you’re thinking, streamers wouldn’t have a revenue source and wouldn’t bother.

I don’t know why the crying on contact swing, it is what normal swing should be. Normal sucks, if they just put contact coding to normal and make contact a “choked up” type swing to try for weak hits only then it would be better

You're probably closer to the actual number but I was just pointing out that it's not everyone using it or even knows about it. I think it's an easy way to explain a loss.

first wanna say I get saying oh their PCI is huge but im not so sure. I noticed first inning idk if its a glitch but opponents pci is huge on my screen then it shrinks drastically. The reason for my post is I was playing a streamer and I fouled one off and he was saying oh what a contact swing etc etc etc but thing is I only use X, and will only ever use X. Is this just the new form of "im lagging " in video games.

The PCI shows size tells you everything. The streamer was just being a streamer. Some dweeb virgin who wants to complain.

You are correct though, it’s the new crutch. Because all the streamers whine about it, everyone starts to since they feel there is legitimacy to it. However, also because of the streamers, a lot of people use every gimmick they are shown to make them feel like they’re competing. Endless cycle of anything they can do to avoid having to admit they aren’t as good.

Well get rid of it and then we won’t have to hear about it anymore. And can watch y’all numbers drop. Or don’t. Who cares. It’s they’re by the way.

For me, it was when I was using a high H/9 guy, and Mike Zunino (live series) had a PCI a third of the size of the strike zone. Especially since I was also using Zunino, and it was more like 1/4 - 1/5 of the zone on normal swing.

I personally tried the whole contact swing thing. It's 100% very difficult to fight against, and definitely nerfed, but if you're someone who gets solid contact often, it doesn't help at all. I went from a home run hitter to a line drive hitter, and we all know what happens when the ball stays in the park in this game lol. I switched back and just try to pitch for good-ish contact when I face one.

    By that, I mean:

    • I don't try to jam them (seems to be an automatic hit with very late)
    • If I'm going outside the zone for a chase, I go OUTSIDE the zone. Like whatever is "outside" the zone, double it. Even though it rarely gets a swing I now consider that a "change the look" pitch instead of a "get him swinging" pitch.
    • Similar to facing guys on directional, hitting corners seems to work better.

I'm still not having the same success I had last year, but at least now, if I notice they're on contact swing early enough, I don't end up getting eaten alive, and I'm generally good for a few runs a game myself so it comes down to basically who is home.
