Having to wait for 500 orders of 1M to be filled before you get to use a card is not good for the majority of the player base.
In my book getting the pack at 40 wins doesn’t make it “a gift”. People invest their time and effort and at some point they should be rewarded
Of course it's a gift. You're not good enough to make ws, but if you play enough, we'll give it to you anyway. That makes it a gift, one you certainly haven't earned.
As for all the orders at a mil. They weren't a problem until SDS started handing out stubs hand over fist. We've had lines before, but nothing like what you saw last year.
I think the big increase in stubs was more people were flipping cards last year.

Of course it is nothing new though when it comes to most any of these gaming companies and from a business aspect I understand it. Find a way to appease the majority over the minority and the customer base should maintain a higher percentage in the long run.
But wouldn't this actually hurt SDS? Less card availability always meant more people pumping in money to buy stubs to get that card that will just make them the absolute BEST at this game no matter the cost.
Unless the cross platform has generated that much more revenue that they don't care as much about people buying as many stubs ?
I would argue the long wait times hurt SDS even more, why would I spend money just to wait in a months long line for Chipper or Billy Wagner last year.

If people, are such good players why do they care how others acquire the player? Never understood this

Totally agree I have no issue at all with the 40 win reward, but they should really offer better rewards for making World Series. Making WS or 12-0 BR is the pinnacle of online play and it’s extremely difficult to do for 99% of the ppl playing. Finally achieving one or the other and getting rewarded with a card you could just buy on the market for 30k is so lame. You should get your choice of any card in the game IMO.

This 40 wins garbage in ranked season. Have absolutely ruined the amount of value which should be rewarded to those who actually earn it and most importantly of all making it so much less appealing to even try to get to World Series rank.

Even if it comes at the cost of competition and the will win. You’re kidding me right???? You do realize that if you get to 40 wins in ranked seasons that you’re more than likely already to WS without the hand out. There are a very select few people who actually benefit from the 40 win thing. The whole 40 win goal is there to make it feel achievable. When in reality the 99 percent who actually win 40 games in a RS are the guys that are regularly in the top 50. If you expand that win total through a full year playing cycle and only play to win 40 games that’s 480 wins. The only people that get to that win total are the streaming elite with the exception of a select very few who are not good at the game but live in moms basement and don’t contribute to society. Just think about that way.
i Think that is wrong, a player that has a 500 record stays at the AS level can get to the 40 wins. I did it the first RS season. I have not played RS since but you do have to be committed to that mode. It takes time away from completing other things. Now I will wait for a card I really want before I do that again.
Yeah it’s not as difficult as he’s saying it is. I made it to 40 wins as well during first cycle and never made WS. Not even sure I made CS. That being said it still isn’t an easy feat and I have no issue with the 40 win reward.

Yea bro getting to 40 wins is no joke. I did the first season but was so burned out I only have 25 wins now and no desire to grind that sht again. I think it was a good idea

Poor guy maybe invest your desires into something more important in life and maybe then you'll attain your desires

Careful don't use the word deserve in front of the stuck up people who want their exclusive rewards and act like winning 40 RS games isn't earning a reward.

Agreed, the benefit of making WS or going 12-0 in BR is the fact you get the reward faster which means it’ll be worth more. If people want to grind out 40 wins that a legit accomplishment especially with the ranked matchmaking system.
Additionally, now the game difficulty is defaulted to the highest ranked player level. So, getting 40 wins is a lil bit of a challenge for most of the players too.
-
I’m lucky to even get to play 40 RS in a month, let alone win them all. 40 full length games is a lot for the average person. I don’t know what the issue is. 40 wins in a month is deserving in my opinion.
I’ve made WS once and even that was a hell of a grind. I think there would be more people making WS if they actually had the time too but I don’t know how people can bang out 5-10 RS games a night.
-
If you make WS or win BR 12-0 through ranked you get the badge which allows you to get the GOAT status and the clout. You don’t get the badge through 40 wins. At the end of the day, that’s what real life sports are playing for too, a trophy. When I see that badge I think - man, I’m going to get destroyed. If I see a 150-200 opponent, I think, well he’ll have some good players but I’m getting a W.
-
I don’t love it for this game, but I wish other games (specifically Destiny) would take this approach. Cumulative rewards are what keep the bulk of the population playing.
For example, you don’t want the only people playing, to be only people that CAN get to WS, or CAN go 12-0. Then the population just heads downwards. Again, I don’t think it affects too much on this game, since they do a good job of making attainable rewards for everyone

Even if it comes at the cost of competition and the will win.I agree however, 40 wins in Ranked seasons is a grind and bad for the health. Considering every game is against a 10 year old who holds R2, bunt dances, tries to initiate a freeze off and loves the pause timer
-
This all could be much ado about nothing. After a few months (throw out the first month when it was new) I would love to see the stats of those who won the card(s) by reaching WS vs those who got 40 wins. My guess is that the numbers would be very lopsided in favor of those who reach WS. Short of cheating there is no real shortcut to 40 wins. Yes, you can quit out of games you are losing but 40 wins is still 40 complete games.
Those against it are simply wanting their cards to somehow prove that they are "elite MLB players" but that is a moot point since the cards are sellable.
-
I don't understand this argument. Is it really fair to put cards in the game that 99% of people can't acquire? 40 wins is quite the grind on RS. I have double dipped both seasons which actually helped me finish collections. I was ranked 974 last season and 900 this season and I am not good enough to go 12-0 in BR. The % of people that can go 12-0 in BR is way below 1. Go 12-0 early or get to the WS early and you get your stubs. I think 40 wins in RS and 100 points is more than fair if you can grind that much.
