I'm going to start a drinking game where you have to take a shot Everytime someone mentions this in a new thread.
Also one whenever there is a new thread about R2 holding.
Would probably drink myself to death.
I have literally not read this a single time in any thread on this entire website.......

No clue why this isn't already a thing. Cause In real life it's not like your opponents lineup is a secret..
All I really care about is the pitcher. Not being able to see their pitcher is ridiculous and can dramatically screw up your game.
For example I have Harper, Griffey, Ohtani, Seager who are all lefties and I start them every game. But if my opponent is starting a LHP, then I wont start all 4 of those guys cause my bench is really deep and I want to be able to play matchups later on in the game if I have to.
But since I cant see my opponents SP, I am forced to either start my lefty batters against a LHP and be at a disadvantage. Or I can put myself in a better position and once the game starts i can substitute in my right handed batters but then I lose those left handed hitters the rest of the game.....
It's absolutely stupid and makes zero sense to not show the pitcher.
It makes sense if you played DD several years ago when this was a thing. Lefty pitcher would see 8 righty hitters. Righty pitcher would see 8 lefty hitters. You need to be able to hit same handedness and I think this way is better than the old way.
Okay well you dont have enough roster spots to do that and it's not like you can back out and change your squad around?? Regardless.... baseball is literally a game of matchups.

It was like that back in the day but people would make all leftie lineups and back of of the game until they got a RHP.
If they brought it back and made it to wear you grt a loss for backing out there would still be problems. You could easily have 3 switch hitters and 5 lefties in your lineup with
5 righties on the bench to sub in against a left handed starter.Again... baseball is a game of matchups. Dont like it... play tennis.

There is a simple solution to this . Make it so we can set two lineups in our manage squad menu but we must use the same 26 player roster. Pre-game lineups don’t have to show us our opponents pitcher but it should show both of our lineups to ensure we don’t have the wrong squad loaded.
That way there are no back outs and you can’t load your lineup one way or the other but only within the limitations of your 26 man roster.
It’s a pretty simple solution and I question the intuitiveness of SDS to have not figured these things out yet.

In real life MLB teams can't just swap out players at will and have to build a balanced team. Sorry but not seeing the pitcher makes our teams and lineups more realistic, not less. Real life can't just stack the greatest 8 lefties of all time.

Thats the same problem tho. You can still have an all lefty or all rightie lineup with 26 players.

Against lefties SRSRRSRRPTheoretically yes but so what? You really think People are gonna take out Mike trout against righties?Or Sacrifice defense for one bat?It would be a problem but rarely. Good thing we have an extra arm in the pen or you could just bring in a new starter. I don’t think most of us would go that far. I just wanna decide where I load my lineup but would likely keep most guys out there regardless.

It wasn't rarely a problem when it was an actual thing, so I don't think it would be a rare problem this time either.

The problem then was people would back out until they got their desired match up.
And my solution has never been implemented so you are wrong and you seem to be convoluting the issue by ignoring my argument or misinterpreting it entirely.

You are using legends and the best of the best from current rosters. Using the argument about realism has no place in the convo. No team has access to all these goodies that we do. They are limited by their current roster. So your complaint is moot.
-
No you don't want that .... they used to do that a couple years ago and it would lead to full lefty or full righty lineups it wasn't cool
-
Here's an idea: learn how to hit lefty/lefty and righty/righty. I never hear these complaints coming from the people who can actually hit the ball in this game.
-
I went yard lefty on lefty and the guy that went yard was my pitcher! That was a great feeling!
Topic: Leave the way it is, that sucked people stacking lineups back in the day!
-
Just play 9 switch hitters. problem solved.
-
Also the there is one big difference in the game now then back then. If they allowed people to stack lineups like that again, you bet in the 2nd inn you would see a new SP with the opposite handiness the game started with. Wouldn't have to go to the BP all game.

Calling it realism is a stretch....In real life - Yes, Teams know what pitcher they are facing...But also in real life - Teams don’t have Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr, Bryce Harper & Larry Doby sitting on their bench waiting for when a righty is gonna pitch

Yeah as if the Braves are gonna bench Freeman whenever there's a lefty on the mound. Or the Angels will bring in a lefty for Trout when there's a righty pitching.

You just need to be better hitting left on left is what I get from this. You don’t seem to have an issue right on right
