I unsquad my starting pitcher from the roster and he was not on the event squad. But when I was trying to sell the card it said If you wish to sell it you must unequip or unsquad it. Anything I am doing wrong

The only thing I could think of is that maybe you have multiple squads and he’s on one of them. Other than that i don’t know what else it could be
