Do these Devs watch baseball?

After these updates I’m convinced these developers don’t watch baseball other than ESPN highlights. If someone thinks otherwise please let me have it. I beg you. But how does a hurt Buxton get a +1, Kershaw (2.62 ERA) gets a -1, Baez (.252 BA) gets a +1 which puts him an attribute higher than Kris Bryant who is outperforming him in almost every hitting category and plays multiple positions, Adam Frazier (.299 BA) can’t even sniff a +1, Civale is 5-0 with a 2.91 but don’t you even dare think about upgrading him, and Means...sweet 8lb 6oz 23 inch long baby Jesus the man is 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA and can’t get upgraded to a gold...I mean I must be missing something here but I could go on and on about how 90% of these updates make zero sense if you actually watch baseball...not to mention the crazy quick diamond to gold hooks on Abreu and Lindor.

Not that it will make any more sense but you can check the roster update page and see exactly what adjustments were made.
Buxton played 6 games during the last 2 weeks. Looks like they boosted his contact and power stats. If the three year average is a rolling three year average that could also be due to some 2019 stats dropping off.
Kershaw got a deduction to his H/9 and K/9. The K/9 makes some sense based on the last few starts but I don't get the H/9 downgrade.
Baez and Bryant - Different positions are rated differently. For example, SS puts more emphasis on defense and contact while 3B has more emphasis on Power. Hard to do direct comparisons of stats
This is not to say that SDS does not make some questionable upgrades and downgrades but too many fans make the mistake of just looking at this years stats. A perfect example is Means. His great start has not been enough to negate his mediocre last two seasons. If he remains consistent then as this stats from 2 years ago drop off and stop being counted then his overall will go up.

problem is he balled out in the second half of last season as well, its not like its a fluke start to the season for him. He will be gold next update probably

Dont forget Lance Lynn, he was a diamond last year and has elite numbers in general to date. But noooooo, no diamond there. Have to make sure the Yanks get their filling with that dumb Stanton upgrade.

the abreu and lindor i dont understand, lindor not hitting well, but jeez hes been a high diamond the last idk how long previous games but downgrade them both???
if they go up and down every 2 weeks ok whatever but not to change them at all doesnt make sense on guys like martinez and so on.are they trying to space them out? next in 2 weeks martinez gets it? i dont understand

I love the devs and this game but how does Yermin Mercedes who literally has the #1 batting average in baseball, how is he a silver right now? He should easily be a 90+ diamond.

Adam Frazier has consistently hit over .270 every year besides the COVID year and he is currently a bronze shield at hitting. So I think when SDS says that whole “3 year average” thing it is to give them more wiggle room to manipulate stats and ratings how they see fit. Because why else would someone who has shown they are a better than average hitter in the MLB only be bronze worthy.

Decrease in vision(strikeouts), Increase to discipline. he is 3rd in the league in walks. While you could argue a bigger decrease in contact vs R was needed, his changes aren't completely unjustified

Oh the irony! "Do the Devs watch baseball?" Do you watch thier streams? If you did you would know that one of the main guys that works on gameplay was in AAA with Trevor Hoffman! He's probabally forgot more about baseball than you even know about the game! Gil is a genius programmer!

I'm not saying each boost is perfect either, they just look at raw numbers most likely. They likely don't know if he is 3 for 9 or 10 for 30

Lol just because you made it to a certain level and played with an all time great doesn’t mean you automatically know more than someone. What if said person was super talented and didn’t pay any attention to anyone besides himself or what his role was at the time? I have played with plenty of people who if they were a pitcher could careless about what responsibilities the hitters/position players had. All they cared about was their specific role and doing that role well. Granted I’m sure that’s not the case because AAA is no joke but to use that as a reason for why someone may know more than someone else is slightly ridiculous. I mean I played baseball for 25 years, played against solid competition at the D1 level, and know a number of professional baseball players. But I know for a fact there are definitely loads of people out there with far less experience that know way more than me.

They probably have an algorithm set up where stats get input and it spits out a number. I’m sure nobody needs to watch baseball (I’m sure they do)
