@Collin_SDS_PSN So I understand it goes both ways, I have been thrown out with level 4 Alomar (90 speed, 97 Steal) by Yermin (Arm Strength 66) and I have thrown out Lofton (98 speed, 99 Steal) multiple times with Yermin. I'm not here to complain, just here to offer suggestions from a balance perspective.

Last night, I threw out Lofton with Yermin on a Curveball and imperfect user input on button accuracy. Should have been an easy steal for my opponent. This really needs to be fixed for 2 reasons.

1.) What is the point of using a defensive catcher if one of the worst defensive catchers in the game can throw out the best base stealers in the game?
2.) What is the point of using speed guys if you can't take advantage of their best attributes?

Both of these address balance in the game. In prior years, if you got on base with a guy who had 95+ in speed and steal, it was a guaranteed stolen base unless your opponent was using a top tier defensive catcher (Pudge, Future Stars Sean Murphy, Finest Stallings), and even then it was 50/50 on a slide step throw.

It should be something like this in slide step scenarios with perfect user input in button accuracy.

    • Runner with 90+ speed and steal vs 90+ arm and reaction is a 50/50 chance on a slide step (adjusting on the margins for where the runner and catcher fall between 90 and 99).
    • 90+ speed/steal vs 80-89 arm/reaction: 75% chance to steal.
    • 90+ speed/steal vs 70-79 arm/reaction: 100% chance to steal
    • 80-89 speed/steal vs 90+ arm/reaction: 25% chance to steal
    • 70-79 speed/steal vs 90+ arm/reaction: 0% chance to steal...etc.

Every year, people complain about the amount of home runs and lack of hit variety, this is often times because power has become the meta over the years and I am afraid, if they do not fix base stealing, it will be even more OP since there will be a lower incentive to use contact/speed cards.

Personally, I think SDS needs to adjust arm strength entirely, I don't think there is enough of a difference between top tier arm strength guys vs low arm strength guys. For example, Ohtani obviously has great arm strength, but Mike Yastrzemski's 55ish arm strength hasn't been a liability.

I'm sure people may disagree that a top base stealer shouldn't just be given a base due to the catcher's lack of arm strength, but my response would be to use a better defensive catcher. At this point in the game, without many 99's, we don't have many 5 tool players. You should have to make a trade off.

    Curious to hear thoughts.

I haven't had a lot of trouble stealing bases so far. With guys like Turner it's practically automatic. Have to be patient and go when your opponent seems to have forgotten about the runner. If I see a pitcher going to the stretch and delivering without any pause whatsoever, I know I'll be able to get a great jump.

Yea I agree base stealing could be better. I’ve noticed there are times when I’ll have a speed guy like Lou Brock get a terrible jump seemingly for no other reason than game situation - as in the game overcompensating in order to keep the score close, which is probably my biggest beef with the game overall. Wish they would just keep the gameplay consistent throughout and let the best man win. I’ve also noticed this year at times the catcher doesn’t always pop up right away to make the throw I’m not sure if that’s bc of something I’m doing wrong or if it’s something other ppl have noticed as well.

That's a fair point, but I don't think Yermin should ever be able to throw out Lofton in this game.

I called a pitch out last night and the guy still was able to steal 2nd with Lofton. My catcher is Will Smith. Next time He got on first, I threw over every time or stepped off until I picked him off after about 15 tries I picked him off. My opponent kept taking big leads.

Maybe its just me, but I'm having significant issues throwing out anyone and thats mostly due to the throw meter not coming up. Either it doesnt show or its so delayed that any chance I would have had is gone.

Not sure if Im pressing early or late or what but I feel like I should be getting better results.
