The one thing I will say is if you have the best possible team from so early on where is the challenge. But to each their own
Exactly. To me, the fun of DD is building your team from rewards and random packs and doing the best you can with what you have. If I bought my team I would have no reason to keep playing the mode - I would have "beat it" so to speak.
However, like you said, to each their own I guess. -
have AL completed & started NL East - no other NL collections done, but have DeGrom & Freeman. Don't use a cap so no equipment there. Haven't spent a dime. Got lucky with a few pulls (DeGrom & Cole & several lower diamonds), but mostly just working the market and grinding showdown
-
How stable is the marketplace and how fast do the top cards depreciate in value

I don’t give a sht what y’all do with your money. Rent a midget riding a donkey for all I care I will still think it’s stupid af though
Not trying to be argumentative here. I am really trying to understand.
Why is it stupid?
Stupid is such a blind term regarding this because you are passing judgement on what somebody else is doing.
Whether I make $25k, $100k, $500k or am retired. Why is it stupid?
You good man. Not passing judgement on ppl but the idea Itself is stupid to me. I grew up playing all types of video games and never had to spend another dime to enjoy now all these games make you feel like you have to spend money. If I took that 1500$ and bought all McDonald’s today some ppl would think I’m an idiot but some ppl would think I’m awesome. Games like Fortnite are the worst, wearing a 20$ taco skin will not make me play any better

Its all about what content is dropping and when. Most diamonds will lose alot of their value as more cards are released. If you're waiting to finish collections, I would maybe buy the most expensive cards now and buy the rest when they drop to 10kish depending on the card

How about Trout, just pulled him and don't know if I should sell him and make a nice team
-
I've completed the Free Agents, AL East, AL Central, and a handful of teams in the AL West (A's, Mariners, Rangers), NL Central (Pirates, Reds). All other teams are between 20-30. I pre-odered the Legends edition and have bought stubs twice for the weekly Space Man packs. So maybe $100 after the cost of Legends editions. My son created a CAP but we haven't spent anything on him yet. I've yet to pack Trout, Acuna or Degrom.

Collections are behind a paywall. You can grind this game all you want but your not beating someone with Chipper and the rest of those annoying (censored) unless the guy your playing sucks.
Tbh i really dont care if people already have chipper. Most of the time the people that pay for their whole teams are usually garbage. The one thing I will say is if you have the best possible team from so early on where is the challenge. But to each their own
A person who has played 1 hour and has spent 1500$ should not have a better team than someone who has played 60 hours and spent no money.

Why?
If the guy that spent 1 hour didn't buy stubs, the guy playing 60 can't make money by selling and buying cards. There's minimal market.
Having better cards doesn't make a player behind the controller better. Everybody agrees on that.

I’m no guru by any means but I would sell and get a stacked team. I was lucky and pulled Degrom twice. Sold both times and finished NL West collection. You get Tatis, Machado, YU, Mookie, Bellinger, Kershaw, Seager, Story, Finley, Hoffman, Gagne

Not really sure what satisfactory answer there is. Use me an the example.
I have Chipper. I spent $1100 this year and have 140k stubs idle and some invested in Topps now cards. I also have about 36 hours played. Should I not be allowed to have Chipper because I can afford it? Should I be restricted from buying stubs unless I invest a certain amount of time logged into the game?
Does having all of those cards available to me make grinding the CPU easier? Yeah. Does it make a PR player into a WS player? Absolutely not.
What's unfair?
If I got everything by grinding 60 hours, NMS and had the same team as the guy that played 1 hour and spent $1500, I'd have pride that I did it. Why would I care about the other guy? Chances are I'd beat them in ranked with their goon squad.

I dont think those stimulus checks are meant to pay 2 win in this game
I wouldn't know. I don't qualify for a stimulus check. Biden's new tax plan sure does suxor though.
Can't believe I missed this thread yesterday. Flexers, NMS jelly guys, guys with no money that think they have it, people saying they are NMS but actually do. It's like a buffet.
Back to the original question. This year, the number was $1100. I have a custom league obligation and had some very early expensive cards I wanted to groove with. TBH, it could be done for under $900 or done with NMS if you play the market all day every day.
In the end, it doesn't matter though.
Regarding the flexing though. Siesta Key and Aston Martins don't impress me. especially on a message board. Want to impress me? Show me a picture of you donating $10k to a local food bank, writing a tip for $5k at a local restaurant, or slapping down your AMEX black at the jewelry store to pay for a strangers engagement ring that he was talking to the salesperson about a layaway plan. Saw the article about Shaq. The man knows what's up.
This is kinda what I was trying to say earlier without trying to sound like I was virtue signaling. I'd much rather spend my money on something important rather than a video game that means nothing.
Just an FYI never said I had an Astin it was more of a point that people spend their money they way they want and it might not make sense to some bcuz they ain't in that bracket and just bcuz the topic is money spent on a game doesn't mean that those that do spend money on the game aren't charitable that's just not the topic so nobody knows who is and who isn't

You should be able to spend any amount of money on the game you want but what does this game prioritize? Grinding. How do you get the best team right now? Not by grinding.
If you are NMS it is hard to complete collections right now and we have a team built on 42 Series players. If you are NMS right now and face someone with collections done you don't feel confident in winning the game.
I have grinding a lot somewhere close to 60 hours I believe and I have a team of 42 Series players. I should be able to complete collections if someone who has played less can complete them right now.
-
Didn't spend anything (yeah gamepass), got very lucky with pull but I still suck with the stick. I could spend money, maybe I will in the future but I don't know enough about the cycle yet. I would buy the game in a heart beat if it off gamepass.

Unfortunately, you will not have it both ways.
You either spend time, or money. If you spend both, you get rewarded faster.
The thing is, you can't hinder one side or the other just so the other side can complete a LS collection in the same manner.
If you don't feel confident beating Chipper and company with a bunch of 42's, that's on you. Nobody can or will change the landscape of a game to fix a confidence problem.
Little billy gets enough breaks already, but that's a WHOLE DIFFERENT subject.

on a different note, do yall remember in 16 when they accidentally gave all the collection cards for free randomly lmao
