Homeruns and Matchmaking

I was enjoying this year's game, minus the obviously terrible servers, but now that I have enough time in here are my two biggest observations and gripes with where the game currently is.
1- Matchmaking. I've been on quite the losing slide, whether it's ranked seasons, events or battle royale. I get the occasional cupcake game, but I've noticed I'm playing dudes who are 24-6, 12-2, 9-0 pretty regularly, even as my record gets worse....so my games in a nutshell are me striking out and giving up a home run every 4 at bats.
Which leads me to
2- Home Runs. These have always been a problem for The Show, since I've been playing...but this year seems extra cartoony. I've been taken yard on pitches 3 feet out of the strike zone, with pinpoint fastballs right on the corners, changeups almost in the dirt etc. It really seems like a good strategy would be to put my cursor in one spot the entire game and then hit a home run anytime a pitch goes there. Then again, the past 2 days I have been barreling up pitches so much better (with good timing), but all I get are line outs or ground balls.
I guess I'm just confused. It legitimately seems like there is a special edition of the game that gives the person who bought it an increased chance to hit home runs haha.
I was very much on the fence with getting this year's game and I really don't want to hate it...but this past week has been brutal, and if experience tells me anything it will only get worse.

Unfortunately the gameplay hasn’t gotten much better since last year. Def a home run fest and inconsistent RNG controlling a % of the hits.
Last year it seemed like it the homers were dialed up to 10, whereas this year it’s more of an 8. Still shouldn’t be that high but I think this year has been a bit better.
It may also just be that I’ve played this game so much I just roll w the punches / am used to all the BS and just get ready for my next at bat.

When the servers work i have never had more fun with gameplay in the show. I think this is easily the best year for hitting and pitching. I also think that contact hitters are studs this year. Lofton, mondesi, Brett, madrigal are all studs. And yes there a re a lot of homeruns but thats baseball nowadays with everyone concentrating on launch angles and power. If they get the servers stable, this will go down as the best game to date. And yest pitching means something again. A noob shouldn't be able to flail away and tip pitches off till a meatball is hung over the plate. Pinpoint pitching rules the day.

Hey Squid....when you jump into an RS game, hold your left stick all the way to the left and you will play guys on your level instead of guys with goon records. Maybe that will help you a little.

The first suggestion I have for you is to learn pinpoint pitching and get that down solid. Second thing to learn is pitch sequencing. Here’s a good rule of thumb, don’t follow up an off speed pitch with an off speed pitch. Obviously it makes sense if they are severely early to go back to the well a second time but eventually they start to recognize it. Also don’t become predictable, meaning don’t start every batter out with the same pitch or same sequence. The art of pitching is to know when to put your foot on the throttle and to know when to take your foot off. Speed up, slow down. You might be surprised at how successful you will become. Hitting is just a matter of timing. What I tell you about pitching goes for the majority of the games players. Most have no clue how to sequence their pitches and thus become predictable and much more hittable. Be patient at the plate. Don’t swing just for the sake of swinging. Get the pitchers confidence going in a negative direction. The more stress you put on the pitcher the more likely they will make a mistake. Believe it or not the best pitcher for is Fernando. And because I know how to sequence his pitches he is nearly unhittable once I get his confidence up. Just a few tips to help you out.

I have been playing the show since 2006, this year's game is a ridiculous home run-fest. Pinpoint pitching is great, but it is nearly impossible to strike anyone out since PCIs are huge. Getting the PCI even close to the ball with a diamond player results in a home run almost every time. If a batter is way too early or way too late, it doesn't matter, it always results in a foul tip, never a swing and miss. This needs to be rebalanced.

My problem with MM is not the opponents rank it's that 900000000000m miles away from them.

THIS has to be adjusted. Excellent point, btw. Homeruns are out of control, like an arcade game.

What you didn’t get from that post is that not all off speed pitches are change-ups, curves, and sliders. In the case of Fernando his true off speed pitch is his four seam fastball. Reading the batter will help with pitch sequences. If you notice that a hitter is all over your fastball from the start then maybe you spend the game slowing down his bat and use the fastball to keep the hitter off balance. Pitch sequencing is just your ability to develop a plan on how to attack an opponent. Now with everything, some people are born to play the game and there is little you can do to stop their offense but I also notice with these guys that they generally speaking have little knowledge of how to pitch and if you can hang with them offensively then maybe you pull out the victory. Either way each opponent is different.

I have 5 pitches and a 5 sided dice - I can't be more unpredictable! lol

I think my biggest problem is that the MAJORITY of hits I give up are home runs. I can live with giving up home runs, but when SDS advertises simulation baseball and it looks more like I'm playing MLB Slugfest, it makes it harder to tolerate. My pitching has gotten so much better all on its own and I'll take the advice I've been given...but at the end of the day, if 3 out of 4 hits are home runs, that needs to be patched.

I found in All-Star- for sure, there are a ton of HRs hit.. for RS though, once I hit the 700's range, my scores are generally lower in general..

Simulation is offline; online with the amount of power in lineups and the way humans play, it’s tough to simulate a real game.

At the end of the day it is a video game...so I say abandon the simulation attempt altogether in that case. If 75% of hits are home runs, then a perfectly timed fastball should go exactly where I controlled it to. Either it’s a simulation or it’s an arcade game. You can’t be both. If pitcher input only matters a little, to simulate what’s it really like, then turn the home run frequency from an 8 to a 4.
