I don't know man, I went into the final boss 15-15. Just finished NL Central TA and NL West TA to 100%, haven't lost a single moment in any of them.
Just keep practicing, hopefully it gets easier. They shouldn't make showdown easier, it's as easy as it can get IMO.
I’m about .500 on the TA showdowns. I thought they were fair.
This did not seem fair. I know when I do things to screw up and suck but I was patient, didn’t swing at junk mostly, and still hit everything at someone. Add to it the dissapearing baserunner and it is totally garbage.
I don’t mind losing. I don’t like feeling cheated like I did here.
You didn't have a disappearing base runner. You just kept hitting over low balls (double plays), and under fast balls (fly outs). Work on PCI placement and you'll be good.
The disappearing base runner "glitch" happens when your base runner comes up to bat the next time. IDK if it's intentional or not but good players won't run into that problem
Well it didn’t happen last year. And yes, it’s a glitch.
Right, other people have had that issue, but you didn't. You would have mentioned it in your OP if that had happened. Your issue is swinging at bad pitches and PCI placement. It's on Rookie....you can do this.
Edit: I see you edited your OP to include this. OK, so maybe it happened, maybe not? I've played 40 or 50 of them, never had that issue.

I'm always surprised that people have hard times with these showdowns. I screwed up on the minor missions, went in down 15-9 and was finished with 13 outs to go. I'm not a good player, so it just surprises me that so many say they struggle on these, when I haven't had any issues since they nerfed showdowns from All Star.
I drafted right handed power hitters and switch hitters, knowing that Valenzuela was the final boss. I always draft exit velocity perks and stack them. This time I had the "lucky 7" perk to go with them. You can sit low, and wait on that change up and screwball. Steal only after you have a 2 ball or 2 strike count. Pinch run for the last run needed, get speed in for slower runners, start runners or hit and run in those counts too. I do that to stay out of double plays as much as possible. That's how I approach showdown.
-
Showdown should be 75k XP, conquest should be 50 XP, and the collection should have been 80k XP. 50K XP I am not buying 88 level cards for.
-
I gave up on it after the 2nd attempt.

Lol just ignore him. They usually disappear after videos but SDS really let him down this year so he’s working around the clock to stop the false spread of “lies” lmao

Its really not that bad, I mean you know where the balls going and he throws it out of the strike zone like crazy. This ones all about patience because he will make mistakes.

@locutusofburg said in I’m not sure first inning showdown is even worth the 35k xp for the aggravation.:
I just did it, went in 15-13, and lost. I got 3 hits, walked 3 times, and grounded into 3 dps. I only struck out twice and everything else I hit went right at someone.
Valenzuela didn’t go under 50% stamina till 80+ pitches so it’s obviously jacked up there. My last 3 outs were all 100+ exit velo right at someone and to top it off I had the tying run disappear off third base with 8 outs left, which moved the IF back which led to a dp. I always took till two strikes.
Just wonderful. I know some of it is me sucking but the amount of DPs you hit into in moments in general is really something that does not at all feel natural.
I do t think I’ll be trying it again.
I was getting shafted sooooo much. I got it to 14-15, man on third, one out and Gary Sanchez steps up. Don't frigging ask me how but I hit a late side of good 2 run homer to RF. I only had to score like 6 runs to win but, just like you, EVERYTHING went right at someone of died at the warning track. They really screw up the sliders in showdown and Jack the contact and power for us down.
Doing the TA SD the other day and I lost every single mini game, because it's suddenly impossible to get a hit on ROOKIE difficulty, but beat Greg Maddux, then lost the final SD 13-15 exactly as you stated... everything just hit right at everyone.
It's pathetic.

But to the OP, I feel your pain. I CANNOT avoid double plays in there. And they’re such killers.
-
I finally beat this on the 4th try, walk off HR. As I'm loading back in - server error. Didn't count the win, when I tried to resume it said I didn't finish the game so it counted as a loss.
Back to square one
-
I'm literally only playing Conquest right now because I don't want to get robbed of a Showdown win. When I feel like I'm not getting constant server errors I'll give it a go. If that happens before May 7 or whenever the 1st inning one ends.
Anyone been doing the TA showdowns? Seems like a good way to get repeated TA points, if you can repeat them. I don't feel like doing Collections anytime soon. -

Yep. There are WAY too many dps for it to be normal.
-
No offense OP.... but I feel like only new players are complaining about showdowns because they are much easier this year than they were last year. Gotta be patient and wait for your pitches to hit.
-
This showdown was harder than the TA ones I agree on that. I didn’t think about FV being the pitcher and stacked my lineup with lefties. I went into it rushing the final boss with 6 runs and beat it first try.
These showdowns are way easier than last year. You need to pick your pitches. I’ll strike out looking before I swing at some ish that’s gonna be a double play. -
How many people have the bosses yet...I’ve been putting in a couple hours each day, did all the missions and conquest, showdown, Davis program...I’m still about 50K shy. Oh and also, the inning rewards are dogshit...if I knew they’d nuke rewards in favour of making BR and World Series rewards grindable I would’ve politely declined

If you can't get a runner around the bases in 9 batters he deserves to disapeer. I did it first try while holding my 1 and a half year old. Oh and also, that isn't even your video..

Last year we got 75 stars for a completed inning showdown, right? If so, that was 25% of the 300 stars needed for the boss.
This year, 35k points is only worth 10%. Seems like they gave us more last year because of the shortened MLB season. Definitely feels like a rip off.
How did it work before 2020?
-
Compared to last year's 1st Inning Showdown, this year is a joke. Most of the games on Rookie, the remainder on Veteran.
Honestly, this is not that hard.
