Notification when server maintenance is done?

I was able to get in just now.
I can't understand how they don't have a better system in place to clearly say when maintenance is ongoing vs done. Working in a tech job, we take our sites down for maintenance and the users are communicated with every step of the way. Anything else would be unacceptable and we would lose our clients.

I used to consult for international clients who were looking for reliable Internet service that could handle insane amounts of traffic. I would routinely recommend IBM's network solutions specifically for their robust servers, multiple layers of redundancy, incredibly fast pipelines and of course it was all dedicated. In these folks minds there were two incredibly important factors, first was that the online experience was quick and easy and second and most important was when it came time to click that buy now button the site was responsive.
Now I'm not sure what Sx3 bottom line/budget is for servers, but we were routinely quoted in hundreds of thousands...per month. Granted these companies were selling tens of millions of dollars in product per month so there's that.
