How is running at more FPS not a competitive advantage? Can we turn off cross gen please
-
Just curious? I'm a pc gamer, and in competitive games its all about turning those graphic settings down and increasing your FPS to at least match your monitor. Then turn them up were needed, while still maintaining your targeted FPS. Mostly 144hz although 240hz/fps is becoming more of the norm now days.
I don't know how many frames your actually getting on last gen consoles during the moment of a pitch bc consoles only show you your FPS while using debug in developer mode. I know it could support up to 60 but obviously doesn't maintain it. However the next gen consoles will have no problem locking at 60fps or higher (if not they're a waste of your money). That seems to be a no brainer competitive advantage. I'm just really hoping that we have the option to disable cross-gen play. B/c even though I do plan to buy a PS5 just like I did a PS4 just for this 1 game. I obviously can't right now due to availability, and I really don't want to be starting out at a disadvantage. Especially in this game where ever single frame matters so much. I mean you do the math, a batter only has approximately .4 seconds to react and decide to swing.
If you don't believe in the difference FPS can make please watch this video or one of several others that explain it. Yes we've all heard the human eye can't see more frames than 60 per second. But when it comes to smoothness and how fast you can pick up the type of pitch leaving the pitchers hand. Thats kind of everything in a baseball game.

I made the move to PC for this very reason. Only keep a console to play NHL and now The Show because they aren’t available on PC.

Right! So aren't you a little concerned as a competitive gamer how this will play out? I've made World Series before, its hard enough not being at a disadvantage.

I just got a new TV... and on COD Cold War, I prefer 60fps with 4K and Ray tracing vs 120Hz at 1080p. Idk why but it’s better for me on competitive modes.
Don’t know if MLB will be the same, picking up pitches might be easier with resolution mode instead of more frames per second. It’s always good to have more options though. I hope SDS can get it in with the latest PS5 patch.
I don’t know if it can be considered a flat out advantage.

I’m an Xbox guy so I have zero expectations for myself about making WS. This is my first year so I’m way behind, but yes I agree with you 100%. For someone like yourself I think it’s a big concern.

Locked FPS on consoles. Games, like MLB TS 21 will not allow more than 60 FPS. Kinda like VSync. So a monitor with more than 60hz is useless for this game. Again.

Every single F’n game should be at 120 FPS on these new consoles. No excuses. Everyone that bought a new console has these expectations. Why would anyone by a new console if the games don’t use the capabilities of next gen. I mean, come on man, 120 FPS is only half as good as pc.
-
I don’t give a F about frame rates; spent first 30 years of my life watching TV at 30 fps. 60 or 120 is all the same to me

Probably due to them having to concentrate on the Xbox port this year, maybe we will see 120fps in '22, Mr. President.

I have a 144 hz monitor and a PS5 but don’t even know how to do the settings to get the best gameplay. Can anyone help with that.

I'm kind of the same way, I just need it to be stable, at any rate.

Now that SDS released it's 120 patch yesterday, and Microsoft sent out it's 120 patch weeks ago.....SDS .... can you compile the game against the new patches and give us 120fps? We both know you can do it fairly easily (especially on the Xbox side).

It is literally the same as your eyes cannot tell anything higher than 60 fps (actually 30 fps but maybe someone has excellent eyes out there).

There is a noticeable difference between 60 and 120 FPS. Going from 120 to 240 is when most people could not tell the difference.

It is your imagination. You can perceive a slightly increased smoothness is about it.

@Vipersneak_PSN Lol. People can tell the difference between 60 and 120 FPS. No doubt about it.
-
How is this any different than past years? Some players were on expensive gaming monitors and some were using 20 year old tvs without gaming mode. If you are so concerned about it, get off the pocketbook and buy next gen. They are available for a price.

Does Series S run at 60fps?
