I think it will be exactly the same but will appear to be different for about two weeks following launch.
Unfortunately — you might be correct. last year it seemed like we were getting the game of the century.
That didn’t last long
-
It will always get tuned is the thing though. Some people will like it, some won’t.

The first part of last year was the best hitting has ever been. No idea why they messed with it.

The problem was check swings and foul tips. With that kind of reward you also need to be able to strike batters out - so now you have hitters able to do the “I have no patience starter pack”. And also get rewarded for everything they hit - you need the hitting to be rewarding and the pitching to be as rewarding so it’s not just 19-15 every game which was what seemed to be happening.

I think part of it might be the impact of the better cards. I think thats the main problem they need to figure out tbh. Thats been the trend since 16, which was the last decent game imo!
Pitcher confidence for instance has had way too much influence over the outcome imo. Honestly it shouldn’t affect the outcome. Batter input should determine the outcome.
-
I don’t know if you guys noticed it in the tech test but it takes a lot more damage now for the pitcher’s confidence to be depleted. That’s a huge improvement
-
For those of you who have been saying “they said more user input” they have been saying that for 3+ years, don’t hold your breath

This is my first year playing DD... I was really excited about my 2nd

They really started saying that last year. If they F this game up there is going to be a lot of disappointed ppl myself included.

I definitely wont be buying at launch and probably wont until I have next gen console. I will wait to see what the community thinks about the game a month or two in. I already know the game will play great week one, then the ‘stat’ patches start rolling out.

I think they’ve been saying that since they broke it in 17
-
I think there will be more, but they will try new ways to hide it. This new pitching system will be riddled with faults.
-
MORE RNG to accomodate the xbox noobs

Pitcher confidence shouldn't affect the outcome at all. It should affect the size of the PCI.

I don't think 90% of you even know what RNG is or what it is used for. With no RNG, there would be no reason to be excited for new Legends, or ever even upgrading your team. Most player ratings would not matter at all. Power, contact, h/9, etc. PCI size cannot be the effect of every player rating, and pci size doesn't even make much difference on higher difficulty levels. The PCI is always small on harder levels. Why do you want every one of your cards to play exactly the same?

That's not RNG, those are definable stats that have a verifiable and quantifiable effect on the game.
I view the RNG as sometimes subtle, sometimes not so subtle nerfing or buffing of outcomes for either side to make the game more interesting or competitive.
This year was my 1st year playing this and I could tell there was something that would swing momentum one way or another but I couldn't nail it down.
I agree some level of RNG is needed to help emulate luck, and randomness in life, but some games I just knew there was no way I was wining the game based on my inputs vs. what I was seeing on the screen. It was like I was playing against a stacked deck. I've also been the beneficiary of this as well... But I think the better player you are the more things like this tend to go against you.
100% input doesn't work in a game like baseball where you can smash a ball but right at a fielder, or you can get jammed and bloop a single etc... Goes for pitching too... there's an element of randomness in even the most accurate pitchers, even when they feel like they let it go perfect. So many variables in a game like this there always needs to be some randomness to it.
This year though I felt like managing the "RNG Swings" was a really big part of the game, and sometimes nothing I did seemed to be effective. That's a crappy feeling.

Your pitcher doesn’t lose his confidence after a blooper, a walk and an extra base hit. It takes a lot more for the pitcher’s confidence to be gone. So, even if you get in trouble in an inning you can still get out of it while not allowing any runs.
In the show 20 the pitchers lost their confidence way too fast and that had a huge impact in hitting outcomes, a pitcher with zero confidence was easier to hit.

Those abilities on cards are used in RNG calculations.

If you are using Trout with high Power you have a better Chance that RNG is going to calculate a home run outcome.
