Everything can be represented with numbers. At what percentage does said player have these ups and downs? How often do they go through these? All this can be represented with percentages. I’m just not sure you could properly make this game realistic without a true physics engine. For example, they still pull the 1st baseman off the bag with a liner hit to right field because they can’t properly represent velocity, time, and distance.
That would be interesting programming. But my issue is that baseball doesn’t always go by the numbers. Hell in all sports, things happen that numbers and percentages can’t explain. Perfect example is Joc Pederson bunting the other day. Unexpected. No numbers for that.
No doubt, but that would be a user decision. As far as programming that against the AI controlling Joc Pederson, easy. What percentage of bunt attempts out of the amount of at bats. You can’t program for user decision making, that’s where the competition level between users lies. I appreciate you being able to have a conversation about this, even though you do not agree, in a respectable manner. So many people on here forget that they are talking to another human being.
May as well chime in myself. I understand what you’re getting at in this conversation. However what you’re suggesting is bordering on making the game predictable after a certain point. Kind of like blackjack without the shuffling after seven hands or whatever it is now. The players knowing that (to use previous example) Kolten Wong is currently hitting .400 so his stats need to be reined back in. Imagine that in the final AB two outs bases loaded bottom of the 9th, a run behind. Knowing you’re going to lose because your stats are inflated.
That’s not how a game should work. Possibly in a pure simulation it may have a place, but not in PvP.

Your not accurately representing the player you are controlling. You are able to achieve feats that he has never come close to accomplishing in real life. Hence arcade, not realistic.
Agree to disagree. Bartolo freaking Colon hit a HR in a real game. What are his stats in MLB The Show? So if Bartolo can do it, I think we should be able to hit dingers in the game with anyone.
You might like arcade games, I do not.
What you want is to be able to compete by evening the playing field because you don’t feel comfortable being able to learn zone. Which is clearly a more dominant interface
Of course a directional hitter wants outcomes for everyone to be random. Why wouldn’t you?
Basically you are saying “I play this way and this is the Max of achievable outcome therefore...no one should be able to achieve anything greater then what the game allows me to achieve”
Based on our conversation on mouse and keyboard I know exactly what your core intentions are dude.
Let’s make the game completely catered to your level of gameplay so that you can compete at a high level. Smh. Ridiculous
I 100% can take a very confident guess at where you stand politically lol
I’m very glad you don’t work for SDS
Once again you continue to put words in my mouth. Why do you continue to make childish statements to try and make an argument where there is none? You have your feelings about how the game should play and I have mine. You get emotional when someone has a different view than you.
It’s not emotional. Own it. You want the game to play to your skill level and you don’t believe ppl should be able to be better ... all skill matters.
I normally don’t ask this, but how old are you? You talk to me in such a disrespectful manner. You continue to misconstrue everything I say. If you want to know how feel, look at the previous posts. I don’t understand why you continue to talk to me in a manner you would not face to face.
This is exactly who I am in real life. Nothing would change face to face and I’m actually not being disrespectful. What I am doing is being real. if you are taking it as disrespect I apologize but my impression of you is that you are secretly very competitive but do not feel you can compete at the level you desire.
I’m not as good as I think I am. But I don’t want the game to change to suit me personally. I’d rather lose in a game I felt was fair then win in a game I felt was simulated.
Firstly, I think if most people went back and read some of the things you said to me they would consider that disrespectful.
Secondly, I never said I wasn’t competitive, quite the opposite. I have been accused of not being a competitive person numerous times on this forum in the past and had to try and explain to them that we just don’t like the same kind of games.
Lastly, I have been trying to explain the same thing to you numerous times, we don’t like the same kind of games. It doesn’t make me any less or more competitive than you. It means just that, we don’t like the same type of games. You keep on trying to pin me in a corner saying that I want the game to change to favor me because I am not any good. Simply not true. I want a realistic game, that’s it, nothing else, point blank period. I assure you I am as competitive as they come. I used to be into powerlifting and was once in a very small percentile of people when it came to strength in my weight class. I hope you can finally see and accept my point of view, albeit you disagree.
We don’t like the same type of games but YOU WANT TO COMPETE ONLINE. you said you got to 800 why would you be playing ranked seasons of you were not trying to Compete????
It’s like saying “nah man I don’t like drinking” but you are at the bar every night throwing them back. You can’t just say something and do something else and expect everyone to just accept it.
And then have all these strange ways you want the game to play that dumbs down zone hitting and makes the game a simulation baseball. The type of game you want has no place in ranked seasons. It’s an “everyone gets a trophy” mindset and it’s silly. That’s fine for offline play. I can’t imagine there is another human that would want to see ranked seasons become a simulation game. This isn’t dungeons and dragons

I explained it to you the best I could already. Just because I like realistic games doesn’t mean I don’t like to play realistic games online against another user. There are plenty of us out there that like realistic games.

You talk about averages. What about strike outs? How do you stop a person from striking out too much with a player that barely strikes out in a real life? What about stolen bases?
Some people have 175 bases stolen with one card you capping that? Why is your “realism” begin and end with the hitting? And what about wins? Era? Does a person just stop giving up homeruns when his era gets too high? What about overall wins? Do you have to stop using a card once you get to a certain amount of games with them? What about overall games? Is your rank season capping at 162? -

Yawn! came back and checked in same ol same ol. Reminds me of groundhogs day. I have offered a possible solution several times where you conveniently ignore.
So i will post it here:
Why doesn't the "Realism" group get together with all the settings that are in the game that you consider realistic and ask SDS to provide a RS for likeminded people?
I have explained where using LS players with the feature of "inside edge" is the most realistic stat tracker, updates everyday during reg season and post season based off of each players tendencies. This feature makes every card different throughout season. Each card is based off of "real time stats" and "real time tendencies" and "real time matchups." Then you add your so called realism settings and voila you have realism, without trying to push for a so called realism engine?
And if you want to play with cards other than the LS then you simply play in the other one?

Yawn! came back and checked in same ol same ol.
I have not ignored you. You are telling me I can’t play online the way I want to like you can. You suggest I create leagues and do more work to get a game than you have to. The one thing you did suggest that would be cool is let the realistic crowd have their own ranked seasons. I don’t think sds would be willing to make 2 different games though, but that solution you proposed is one that would be cool.

Quite the opposite all i said you wouldn't be able to use anything but the LS cards in the realism RS designed for the guys/gals that want to use the realistic stats of players. I don't recall ever suggesting leagues within this proposal. It wouldn't be another game it would be a "realism mode" within DD.
You should get with your crowd, create a proposal with all the details, submit it. The worst they could say is no. But if enough people want it they might say yes. Ya never know.

As long as you have video footage of a player you can use any one in that way. You just need video for accurate data. Yeah good idea, I’m on here letting them know.

I took it as implied since they have been given the opportunity to say if any input options weren't available and have every time answered that the one in question was. Yes, it would be nice to have a little more specificity, but the implication has been that all options are still in the game.
What I never understood is why it would matter, since all of the options you are asking about are not very competitive in h2h play and anyone using them is playing at a disadvantage.
I believe I answered you on this before. It’s the way I like to play. I don’t care if I’m at a disadvantage. I don’t like seeing all that junk on the screen. For me personally, it takes away from the game. Yes, I know I’m different, but I like to play games that are more grounded to reality. I don’t like games like call of duty. I like arma, squad, the old socom games, the old ghost recon games. It’s too bad they don’t make mil-sim shooters for the consoles anymore. It’s all fake arcade type stuff. That’s the reason I don’t like playing with the same settings as you or I’m guessing the majority of people on this form.
Modern warefare is very very accurate, and the only call of duty game I’ve enjoyed in a very long time. They changed a lot of names for copyright reasons but in the campaign that’s Afghanistan idc what they say, it’s pretty accurate as far as I can remember from my days in the desert.

The mechanics of the game are not accurate at all. What you talking bout Willis. You got people running 4.4 40s with 150 lbs of gear. Jumping off roof tops with that gear and not breaking their legs. The locations that they are depicting may be fairly accurate, but the gameplay is bananas.

I’m not quite sure you are fully understanding it. You speak of Kolten Wong in a one at bat scenario instead of a season long 500-600 at bats.

Is your rank season capping at 162?Already addressed that, go back and read.
