( if 21 has create a stadium in DD along with what we saw in the tech test for gameplay I will no doubt have 21 potentially in places 1-3)
Dishonorable mention: mlb 18

Never played MLBTS prior to this year. Any interest in posting what made each game where you ranked them?

I agree with the list so I'll give you my opinions, which I assume OP will agree with.
16 was the best because of the fact that you got rewarded for good input pretty much all the time. If your PCI was on it and you timed your swing correctly, you would get a good result almost each and every time. You were also able to pinpoint pitches with good input, randomness wasn't really a thing. Also a lot of player card diversity in DD, like 2 different 99 A-Rod versions.
17 was a slightly lesser version of 16. It was the year that they introduced the ball physics, which made some guys swings generate a lot of topspin, which wasn't ideal. Ken Griffey jr. was the cover athlete and he of all people generated a ton of topspin with this swing making him unpopular. Also this was the year of "just late be great", meaning you'd get higher exit velocities if you swung just late which is weird and feels unrealistic. Overall still a good game though.
18 is a game we should never speak of again.
19 was similar to this year but pitch speeds were slower, making it incredibly hard to pitch effectively. But at least you could somewhat still locate pitches. Lots of RNG in swing outcome. The player inning programs were introduced as well as the XP path, both good features. Overall imo 19 was more enjoyable than 20 but they were both pretty bad compared to 17 and 16.

I cannot rate the games in order for there was too many changes in all areas for me to be able to compare evenly. But if i'm going to be honest TS20 is going in right direction there just needs to be tweeks made both offensively and defensively. And some universal changes.
I can't imagine how hard it is for SDS to find balance in MP. Several things i have been lobbying since 15 but it has caused to much controversy here so don't mention them anymore. Which forces me to play vs CPU until i see the changes.

20 - good gameplay good content, solid improvements to gameplay (perfect hitting and throwing, showdown)
17 - late to be great
16 - rampant bunt cheese and major fielding issues
19 - constant lineouts good content
18 - very bad -

It was easier to pitch in 19 then 20 because there were no forced mistakes and less foul tips and check swings — everything else I agree with.
