SDS are you Serious no PS5 Disc Version?
-
@SDS_Jax @Collin_SDS
I know I'm probably in the minority here about buying physical copies of games, but I bought the disc version of the ps5 so I could have flexibility, while also saving storage by buying disc games. So basically my point is this:
Why is there no option to buy a bigger bundle for PS5 disc owners?I'm using the link from their Instagram, and it shows that the three premium editions all three of them offer only digital codes for the ps5 and I think that is a problem. Yes, I could always buy the normal disc version, but I wouldn't be able to upgrade and receive the other in-game items that I want(Not to mention early access, and that's what we all really want). And unless the ps4 disc is going to be the same game (it isn't. Think about it, why would they give a ps5 digital version if it is the same as the ps4 game) then I think there should be an option to buy a premium version with a ps5 disc.(also ik they have the same servers for all consoles, but still, not the same game). Is there anyone else that also feels this way?

Unfortunately, disc games still install onto your hard drive and won’t save space. You actually want that especially on ps5 to take advantage of the speeds of the SSD. You do save a bit of bandwidth buying disc though if you are on a limited tier of internet.

Yes, I know they install on your hard drive, but they still save space for example, NBA 2K21 next get is 120 GB for digital downloads, but on my ps5 it is half that at 63.9 GB with a disc.

That’s crazy. I wonder why the discrepancy between users. I have the disc version of 2k21 and it takes up 118gb on my ps5. I was just checking it yesterday because I couldn’t download my Street Fighter V update because I have no more space

Are you sure you have disc? I'm staring at it rn and it says 63.89GB. I have no idea your situation but perhaps you transferred the data of nba 2k21 from your ps4 to ps5 so you have two copies of the game? I'm not sure really, but I would look into that if I were you.

Haha for sure have disc. My drive makes a loud noise every time I load it up. I’m going to try to delete and reinstall to try to free up space. That’s a lot of space I can free up. Cyberpunk also takes up over 120gb. On the 2k21 box it says 150gb of space needed. Guess 118gb is better than that

Probably so you can play it and then in a week sell it. It also reduces the loss at the retail level as retail stores always have theft in a digital world atleast with ps games you cant really steal them. You can steal music and movies and software but PS and xbox games are pretty locked down.

IMIG, but like if they give ps4 disc versions with the bundle, it's only $10 more for the ps5 disc version. Also, they still will have the ps5 version in a GameStop because they will still sell the normal version, just not in a bundle with the early access.

I understand I would rather have the disc versions as you can get them cheaper. You are not stuck to paying 25-50 bucks for a older game like you are on PSN

If you go to NBA in your PS5 dashboard, you can click the three dots on the right, and it will give the ability to “play” the PS4 version or download it, it’s probably the easiest way to tell if you have an extra copy downloaded. Most games are actually downloading both which is annoying, and if you haven’t clicked the three dots and selected PS5 version, you play the PS4 version by default on most games as well.
-
My only issue with companies offering digital version to combat resellers is that the digital version should be at least $10 cheaper.
There are no production costs for digital versions once the game goes to print. The companies save both actual production costs on discs, cases, and distribution when we buy digital versions. Their savings, particularly including not only production but the elimination of the resell market, should be passed on to the players.

They have ps5 entitlement so it should be fine

The problem is that you get a digital code, not an actual disc for the ps5 version, which is the main problem.

That hasnt been a thing for a while. If you have the disk version it just uses the disk to install the game on the HDD/SSD rather than download. Disk drives are WAY too slow to access data from during gameplay. Especially with the new systems using a super fast SSD. That would defeat the purpose.

I have many disk games, they all install the same space of data on your HDD as digital versions. Including MLB TS

Yet somehow my next gen nba 2k21 disc version takes up 63.89GB when digital takes up 120?

Probably because if you don't plan on buying a PS5, and it was an extra disc, you could just sell the PS5 disk to someone else.
.
They would lose to much money. -

but wouldn't it play just the same. You would just have the ps4 version. They probably did it so they didn't have 8 different versions of the game when they could just add the entitlement into the case. Plus it is probably cheaper to produce ps4 disc
