PS4 Turning Off
-
The past few days my PS4 has been shutting off in the middle of games; like just dead or like a power outage. It happens once each day and then is fine the rest of the day. Anyone else have this issue or is the PS4 gonna die soon?

Is it overheating? Like is the fan going into overdrive before it randomly turns off?
-
You need to open it and clean the fan, put it in an open space where air can circulate. Sounds like your system is overheating like @eatyum mentioned.

I think that was it. You could fry an egg on that metal plate. The fan seems to be working though. It only seems to happen after about 45 minutes or so when I first turn it on. I guess a PS5 might be in my future.

Which model PS4 Is it?

The original, not a pro. Again, only does it when I first turn it on for the day after about 20-40 minutes of gameplay and then it's fine. I'll just have to live with it for now I guess.

Put in safe mode and reboot. I had a problem with it turning on and off by itself and ejecting the disc at random times in the night. That helped me. Look it up first though

Could be the old ‘detached GPU’ trick or whatever it was I had in my first PS3. The PS4 slim is designed well to prevent this better I believe, but not the OGs I don’t think.
If you’re confident enough, watch a YouTube clip (eg TronicsFix is really good) and replace its thermal paste. No soldering required.
Still, you’ve had a pretty good run with it. Could always sell it with full disclosure and get a new one, or put the cash towards a PS5.
