Pure Analog Hitting – how do I swing for Power or Contact?

When playing RTTS, I was challenged with "Driving in a run using a Power Swing".

According to the controls, I have to press 'square' before the stride in order to do a Power Swing. Well I did that and drove in the run... but I got "Challenge Failed".

So my question is, how do I swing for Power or Contact when using Pure Analog hitting? I also have my stride set to "flick".

Pull down the stick and then push up for power swing. Push to the left of right for contact swing.
