Do we really need multiple difficulty levels throughout ranked season?

Yeah it seems that simulation of “real baseball” is the aim until it conflicts with profit.

I wish I knew. I like to think that if pitchers could actually hit their spots and that strikes on the edges were called, maybe there would be less good swings?
Like if the pitching input counted for more, maybe that would be enough?
There would be less good swings, but it still wouldn't reduce the amount enough. If every good pci landed, it would be arcade baseball. I think your also missing the fact that SDS is trying to simulate real baseball, so eliminating all lineouts isn't a solution they will consider.
'All 99' teams isn't simulating real baseball so there's a conflict of priorities.
I don't think that is true. You can have all 99 teams and still try to simulate what happens in a real baseball game
You're confusing real-life roster construction and real-life gameplay aspirations. There is a difference.
And also might I add, that comment adds nothing to what was being discussed, which is that having all good pci land for hits or home runs would make the game virtually unplayable by making it basically an arcade game. Your comment doesn't solve that issue.

Honestly, I think most of us find the hits that come from bad placement and timing to be the most egregious.
I could accept good goods and perfects going for outs no problem if there were not so many hits resulting from early, late and/or bad timing.
I am amazed at how I sometimes lose games to players that can not hit anything inside the zone and yet somehow once or twice a game can get good or perfect swings on borderline pitches up, away, or in the dirt.
I want consistency, not just consistent randomness.

Thanks. Didn’t mean for it to sound condescending so I apologise if that’s how it came across. I have to admit I started out on topic, thinking along the lines of ‘more homers than doubles isn’t simulating real baseball’ but then when I considered the probable cause (all powerful hitters in lineups) I didn’t want it to sound like I was implying hitting needed to be nerfed because that’s not the solution.
It’s the input vs RNG debate all over again.
