Wow who would have thought arguing over the Dutch flag would have given me some insight as to why I argue so much and always think I am right. I’m 1/4 Dutch on my Mother’s side but do not have any knowledge of that part of my family tree. Other than making peach cobbler in a Dutch oven (I’m not even sure if that’s even a “Dutch thing”) I didn’t think I had type of culture from that part of my family. Now that I am enlightened that Dutch are known for “always being right” and for making a big stink out of everything. I can now tell my wife “ Honey it’s not my fault I’m Dutch and couldn’t help myself”. I appreciate learning yet another excuse to blame my bad behaivor on. Now I just need something to blame my bad spelling on.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not . Either way I just wanted to point out to @EvylShaun that I do not appreciate being lectured about my own heritage and culture. I think that's pretty self explaining and everyone would feel the same in my position, despite his fiancee's parents being Dutch.
I am serious about being 1/4 Dutch but I am being sarcastic about blaming my behavior on my genetics. From what I gather Dutch are direct and straightforward in conversations. Typically the goal is to be helpful not hurtful. Other cultures may interpret that directness negatively and can be put off. Typically the comments you make fall into this stereotype and if readers will brush aside their emotions for one second they will realize most of the information and suggestions you make are helpful.
Spot on, we are also often perceived arrogant which is also a result of the directness. We speak out whenever we don't like something, but we also speak out when we do like something. We're just outspoken in general, but me personally I am hardly ever out to intentionally insult anyone. If that's my intention, you'll know for sure lol. Theres hardly anyone on this forum that I strongly dislike, 1 or 2 guys maybe, but that's it. I don't really have any beef with @EvylShaun either, I've seen him around here for a while and never had issues with him. Just because we knocked heads over this also doesn't mean we will continue to do so, or at least I won't.
Anyway, does the Dutch relative in your family still have contact with home base?
I wouldn't say we knocked heads. We were debating. You took it personally/got personal, so I simply stepped away as that wasn't my desired outcome. I believe that's where you wanted things to go anyways based off of your replies.
As far as I'm concerned the conversation is over and that's where everything will remain.
Fine, be salty over it I don't really care. You were in the wrong and I let it slide, willing to set aside the differences. If you don't, I won't lose any sleep over it. But you really gotta get off your high horse buddy.
I'm..... I'm not salty? Lol.
Im not sure what your problem is exactly, but you've literally personally attacked me multiple times and I've been nothing but cordial, apologized a couple of times for offending you and wished you the best. Then you say I'm on a high horse?
There's an analogy about a pot and a kettle somewhere in there.....

You used the French flag instead of the Dutch flag. The Dutch flag has red, white and blue horizontal banners from top to bottom. As a Dutch citizen I am slightly insulted that you didn't do a bit more research in such a simple fact.
French flag would have a thicker middle white section given the visible length of the image. It's very clearly is a dutch flag rotated. Especially given the context of other cards as reference.
Are you really gonna lecture me about sentiment that you are clueless about, given the fact you're not Dutch let alone European? We have history here, the flags mean something. To simply pass it off as a designer decision is even more insulting than it being an actual unfortunate mistake.
Well now you're just making assumptions which actually turn out to not be true. Granted, I wouldn't expect you to know anything about my family history.
Regardless, you're entitled to be upset about something and have your opinion. I just hope for your sake not everything makes you as defensive as this.
You did try to lecture me about the sentiment I hold in regard to our flag. The only assumption I made was that I don't think you're Dutch and so you wouldn't understand the sentiment. Was I wrong, are you in fact Dutch and do you therefore in fact understand the sentiment? Because if not, I had every right to be defensive towards your ignorant and most of all unnecessary comment.
I myself am not Dutch, no. The part you were mistaken about is that I'm British in Canada.
However, my fiance is Dutch. Both parents born in the Netherlands. I lived with them for a few years (in Canada) in a custom built house with 9 people, 3 generations and all of them are 100% Dutch. I'm VERY familiar with your culture, so please don't think I'm insensitive.
However, in the context of the above photos it was very clear what was being presented.
Be proud of your history. Don't ever lose it and make sure (if you ever move) that your family learns of their past.
Also, have a little more understanding for people who accidentally offend you, and perhaps let some things that aren't intended to upset slide.
https://ibb.co/PTqvgp3
This seems fitting given everything I said previously.Have a good one.
My wife is 100% Dutch. I showed her the first photo and asked her what she saw. She said a baseball player and the French flag as she didn't know Didi was from the Netherlands. So while it shouldn't really be offensive to turn a flag, it technically is incorrect; especially if it's easily identifiable as a different country. -

You don't even know me, you see how I interact here, on this meaningless online platform, with people I sometimes disagree with. We established earlier that I am direct and speak out, as part of the culture I am raised in. Does that make me unpleasant sometimes? I'm sure it does to some. But does that automatically mean that I "need to be a better person"? Its so easy to say that in an online somewhat anonymous environment. You have no clue who I am and what I do in the real world. I show my better sides around here as well, which you conveniently ignore. And all of that is okay, but for the love of god stop the judgements as if you know me so well, because you obviously have no idea about who I am and what I stand for in the real non-pixel world. Same goes for you by the way, I find you terribly annoying around here but who knows you might actually be a very pleasant person in real life. I wouldn't know because I don't know a thing about you just like you don't know a thing about me.

Says my biggest stalker. Time you got laid, maybe you'd get off me.
Lmao i haven't posted in here in weeks but I'm your stalker? Lol get over yourself..just amazes me that everytime i do stop in i see you being an a..cant curse ..to someone
Yeah I get the curse word you're hinting at, it's all good. You won't let an opportunity go by to shovel some sh.... can't curse... my way though, that's why I said what I said.
Well when your acting that way EVERYTIME i come in here it's kind of hard to avoid...be a better person
- Correct i can only go by how you are in here...be a better person in here.
2.there is a difference between being direct and speaking out and acting like you are better than everyone...stop being that way
3.the only reason i judge you is because of the way you judge everyone else..stop doing it to others if you don't want it done to you..be better on here
NI will just continue to be me, and if you don't like that or have issues with it just block me or ignore me. And if you don't, take everything you read with a grain of salt. Nothing that is said here means anything in the grand scheme of things.
That's sad

Good morning, I worked up a 2nd wave of this concept. I'm really enjoying putting these together. I have a few other fun concepts I'll be putting together over the next few weeks. Enjoy!
