When is it hardest to make World Series?
-
I was watching a streamer lately and he was talking about how it doesn't mean as much to make WS this late in the year because so many players have left the game. My thought was the exact opposite, that most of the casuals have left and the only people left playing at the higher divisions are hard core MLBTS players. I know personally, I've run into wayyyyy more goons at 700+ in the past two months than I did in the first few months after release. I've also run into them at lower ratings, since I think they're not playing quite as much ranked. I played a guy yesterday who was 118-23 and he was rated like 804 or something.
What are your thoughts?

Totally agree with you. Only exceptions would be the other way - new players who just got it for Christmas or on sale.

Generally, I think it's easier earlier in the year and at the very end of the cycle

I think it’s way harder early in the year. I’ve gone flawless to ws b2b and never did early in the year. Well tbf I didn’t even play early in the year, but I always feel like everything is sweatier at launch. But these flawless ws runs don’t mean much, not facing anyone good. I’ve been blessed with the matchups I’ve gotten

I felt like earlier in the year it was still possible to actually get people out, and now with all the juiced Finest cards and end game hitters, you absolutely cannot win without out slugging your opponent consistently. Not that that wasn't true early in the year, it just feels even harder now than it did earlier in the year.

It depends on the matchups, I had a flawless run to ws in middle of Summer and have had very tough runs in beginning of game due to me not having sheffield/biggio/mantle in lineup (which got me Juan Pierre for my troubles LMAO) but honestly, you can play a run right now and you can end up having to sweat it out pretty bad. It all depends.

I should've elaborated a little. My thinking is, it's easiest to make WS early in the year with a lineup of the best cards available. The edge you get from a team full of the LS collection rewards in March/April is bigger than any advantage you'll have later in the year.

In my experience that is true. Ppl drop big $ beginning of game to get that edge and I noticed it first hand.
