Swing timing

What all affects your swing timing? Can the connection between players change it? Any lag can change it, I assume. Can you have lag that you don’t hardly notice?

I played a game where I couldn’t time anything up (been an issue lately, but particularly this game). I only noticed lag on one occasion on a hard hit that the screen seemed to skip a beat on. Other than that, didn’t notice much but maybe there was something going on I couldn’t see?

Does the pitch quality affect batter timing at all? If someone throws a really good pitch with location and proper analog placement, does it affect how well the batter might be able to time and locate the PCI? It’s felt that way lately, particularly in a couple games.

If you haven’t figured it out, I’ve had a little trouble lately, either with swing timing, PCI location or both. Not sure what’s going on.

Also, is it just me or are the 99 Darvish and 99 Giolito really good? Seen them both a couple times lately and they’ve given me fits.

Any help? I’m curious how my swing timing is so back and forth. Even when I feel im right on it, it’s late or early.

Does a pitch quality (the opponents ability to hit the cursor marks) affect the hitters timing?

SDS

I don't think anyone truly knows, including SDS. They have so many algorithms going that to say which is effecting what, besides PCI size, seems impossible. My 2 cents.

Timing has been KILLING me recently. It’s mostly my fault because all the tinkering has me all messed up. But still. 94 looks like 100 on some pitchers, but looks like 89 on others. Again, more so recently.

Same here too.

The biggest difference for me was changing from a POS TV to a monitor. Made a huge difference! There is a thing called input lag, which is the time you hit the button till the time it registers to your TV/monitor. If you have a monitor lying around the house, hook it up and see if it makes a difference.

Attributes do not affect timing, just the pci size

See above monitor post, but if you have or do hook up to a monitor and still having issues with timing, then it's probably you, but good news is it just takes practice... and a lot of it 😉 Best thing to do is go to batting practice, pick a pitcher you are struggling with and set it to the next highest difficulty you are playing on. So if you are an allstar player and struggling with Degrom for example, practice against him on HOF. Just takes reps and you'll get it eventually and when you go back to allstar you will see the ball MUCH better.

Thanks for your input here. I have tried practicing, but I keep repeating the bad mechanics. I literally just sat and watched the pitcher pitch to see if I could tell the difference between pitches. For the most part, I can’t. I thought there would be certain angles, etc but I just don’t see it. Even when I do, it’s often too early or too late. Anybody have a good suggestion or reference to improve this? I love online play but feel I hit my ceiling.

Not sure what camera angle you are using, but try strike zone and if you are struggling inside, strike zone offset. I use strike zone offset and aim my PCI at the body of the pitcher. This covers the high inside part of the plate, which I'm weak at, and I find it's much easier to adjust to the low and outside pitches. This is my first year playing DD and believe me it takes a lot of time and practice to get good. I'm not a WS player but have climbed my way to Championship series and can hold my own in events. I struggled mightily in the beginning.
