What to do about Willie Mays
-
I put in a buy order for Willie on 12/14 at 3:54:01 pm. Should be getting him soon, at least in the next couple of weeks. Who hits the bench when I get him?
Juan Soto 271/344/609
Ken Griffey Jr 266/331/559
Ty Cobb 336/368/644
Willie MaysI don’t really need Willie, but placed an order to try him out and was running close to the stub cap anyways. What do you guys think?

I'd move Soto to the bench, Cobb in LF, Griffey in CF, and Mays in RF. Just think of you bench Griffey, you'll have a bad fielder in LF and a weak arm in CF or wherever you play Cobb

Kind of what I was thinking, though I’m hesitant as I’m not a great hitter and Soto’s line hasn’t been aided much by events. An OPS over 900 is hard to ignore. I have a feeling it’s going to be between Griffey and Soto, and you’re probably right about the defense.

Mays - CF
Griffey - RF
Soto - LFCobb pinch runner
Mays will make up for any defensive shortcomings of Soto in left field and Soto’s defense isn’t as bad as people think

I was trying to keep Cobb in there bc he hits well with him. Who knows, I've seen some people on here complain about May's swing. You may end up going back to your current set up @MarinerMatt01

I agree mays has a bit of a wonky swing but he’s so good defensively I can’t take him out of my lineup, I hit .340ish with him which is my lowest but he runs down every ball and his arm is unbelievable

I’ve seen a lot of that on the forum. Willie seems to be (literally) hit or miss with most people, not the end all be all that a million stub card should be. Looks like a lot of fun though, so I’ll try him for awhile. You’re right about going back to my current set up. All three do very well for me, especially Cobb. Was not expecting the results I’m getting out of him based on his ratings.
