Why is it that I have fun playing online rated? User input seems to be more accurate. Especially with hitting. I play on hall of fame difficulty. I feel there is less random outcomes with hitting.
If the pci's are bigger in DD, how is it that it's harder to hit? And just seems so much more frustrating.
Do any of you hard core DD guys ever try online rated? I wish

Same question. Never heard of this mode before this topic
Really? you never checked out other modes just to see what they look like or what they're about? You go to the game modes screen. Then play now, then online rated. you use MLB teams. You get to select what difficulty you want to play on. I recommend hall of fame. play it and let us know if you can tell a difference between it and DD.
Of course you're going to start out playing lower rated people so don't come back saying how easy it is. If you work your way up and play the game early in release, you play some good players.
Good stuff, thanks. I have played The Show every year since it’s first version but always played franchise , or RTTS. This is my first year of DD , didn’t even know they had another online option other than play friends ( which I have done in previous years).

I’ll admit I enjoyed trying out online rated just now.
That said, I found the same frustrating things happening. The only run I gave up to my opponent was on a two out dropped third strike that my catcher threw into right field foul territory.
I also had the damndest time scoring add on runs after taking an early lead, despite numerous good swings, and of course my opponent would get the tying run on base in the ninth.
The game still had that overall nerfed feeling that RS games do.
I dunno, it was fun, but it was not night and day. The gameplay currently is just not rewarding at all in its current form, whether it’s RS, online rated, or even conquest vs cpu. There’s too much stuff that happens that is outside of the user’s control.
I guess this what they mean by “simulation”.

I wasn't asking what mode people prefer to play. I wanted to discuss whether people notice a difference in gameplay between DD and online rated.
If you're not asking what mode people prefer to play, then what are you asking? Because DD and online rated can be the same thing. For example, RS gameplay is DD, and also online rated.

Good question OP... and I wish SDS would be more transparent about this issue.
DD RS gameplay has been a problem for several years, which is why I have not wanted to play much of that this year. Content aside, the '16 Show version (minus bunt cheese) had probably the best DD RS gameplay. It has went downhill ever since ('18 was the worst). Hopefully, the new gen consoles can improve the DD RS H2H gameplay experience.
However, with the exception of the ridiculously op future star cards, I do love this year's content. -

People tend not to do these exploits in online rated because they are there to play baseball, not to get to the next level in DD Ranked, or Event, or win # in a row in BR to get some diamond cards.
Out of all the games in the last 3/4 years I've played in online rated, I think I had maybe one game where a guy played where he used exploits.
I think people who play online rated go into it like i described - to play baseball, not roller rink derby.

LOL ok, you haven't explained anything.
Only thing I can think of, without you explaining is based on a safe assumption. Something like, playing someone who flails at offspeed pitches, and continues to swing and miss even when they know it's coming. So in a sense, I suppose you're exploiting their weakness by continuously throwing off speed pitches and maybe mixing in a fastball here and there to keep their timing off. But that happens in Online Rated too, as I experienced in my only game in Online Rated.
But isn't that why scouting reports are used at times? For example, pitchers try to exploit hitters weaknesses, and vice versa, a pitcher who just spams using fastball, so a hitter exploiting a pitcher's tendencies if applicable? Isn't that part of baseball? LOL

Out of all the games in the last 3/4 years I've played in online rated, I think I had maybe one game where a guy played where he used exploits.
I think people who play online rated go into it like i described - to play baseball, not roller rink derby.
I strictly play DD RS, I've played 1 game of 'Play Now, Online Rated' and found it to be a waste of time playing on HOF level beating my opponent 7-1. There's no game history of it. You don't get any increase in ranking points like you do in RS, so for me, it's like 'what's the point?'
To me, you make it sound like there's some cheat code that we don't know about. Because anything you do in DD, you can do in Online Rated and vice versa. LOL So what exploit or trick in the book are you talking about?

So in a sense, I suppose you're exploiting their weakness by continuously throwing off speed pitches and maybe mixing in a fastball here and there to keep their timing off. But that happens in Online Rated too, as I experienced in my only game in Online Rated.
But isn't that why scouting reports are used at times? For example, pitchers try to exploit hitters weaknesses, and vice versa, a pitcher who just spams using fastball, so a hitter exploiting a pitcher's tendencies if applicable? Isn't that part of baseball? LOL

I like to play baseball. an opponent that thinks like a baseball manager. someone who's thinking 3,4,5 innings ahead and strategizing. that's the type of player I like to play against. And in my experience I find that type of player is 99% more available to play in online rated than dd online.
that's all im saying. this isn't a thesis on nuclear proliferation we're debating here.

If you care at all about online h2h gaming modes in this franchise, then you should very much care about cheesers and dashboarders, as they are spoiling an already problematic gaming experience.....considering this is the only relevant baseball game.
For me, it is because my love for baseball and enjoyment of this game that I am very much against those little whiny boys who dashboard out and cheese it up, just because they are poor sports. Over the years of playing this franchise, I have beaten players, who no doubt, were better than me and I have lost to those who I thought were maybe not as good as me, yet, I have never dashboarded out.

The reason why I don't care is because I can't control what other people do and at least I'm not a hypocrite about it. I'll just leave it at that as this topic has been discussed many times over already in previous posts.

This. This explains everything. You play the game for "points". Well, a lot of people play because they want a good baseball experience. They want the game to resemble a real mlb game. Not some cheese fest.

Not going to happen either. DD is a cash cow. They're not going to change a thing. I hope I'm wrong though.
