BR Reward Prices

SDS

Any theories on why there are so few of these cards being sold this year? I've never seen every single br reward on a 15-100 person waitlist to buy at max price.
Were stubs too easy to get this year?
Too many stub sales?
Not enough people going 12-0?

Really sucks cuz I would pay 2 million for Donaldson at this point

SDS

All of the above

SDS

Mix of 1 and 3. There haven't been any more of less stub sales than previous years so I don't think they really have an effect here

SDS

The reason is quite simple. Most BR goons play BR to make stubs, as the 12-0 rewards are always the most expensive cards in the game. But this year everybody is sitting on millions and then some, despite of skill level. It has never been easier to make stubs.

So as a result of that, these BR goons sit on the maximum amount of stubs allowed in the game as well. They'll go 12-0, pick the card they can not buy and stop playing BR once they have the cards they want because there is no more money to be made when the stub cap is at 5 million. The selling of duplicate flawless rewards has become useless and so those guys lose their incentive to play BR.

I'll use myself as an example. Last year I went flawless about 15 times. This year, I went flawless just twice; I picked the cards I wanted and stopped playing because I'm already at 5M stubs. Only reason for me to go back playing BR would be new rewards that I would want to use, the selling of duplicates has become worthless and that's why those queue lines are so long and will remain to stay that long; people can't make any more stubs than they already have.

This is the reason why so much liquidity is a problem for this game. People will say "how can too many stubs for free ever be an issue?", failing to understand that this is a direct result of that.

SDS

Team affinity hands out hundreds of thousands of free stubs. You can spend 15k on exchanges and still make a ton of profit for doing nothing

Raes hit the nail on the head. For the most part, Those of you who have a bunch of stubs and are complaining you can’t buy the BR guys you want, would not have so many stubs you want to spend on these unavailable cards if not for the gratuitous amount SDS is making available.

My guess is that if SDS had made stubs harder to earn, you wouldn’t see the ridiculous lines for all the elite cards and people complaining would be able to obtain 1-2 of them, as opposed to possibly none at this point.

SDS

Of course, the solution here is not to make stubs harder to obtain for everyone, but to change the BR reward system that really only benefits a handful of players (out of a hundred thousand or so) that can actually go 12-0 multiple times.

I disagree. There needs to be somewhat exclusive cards that come which take either top level skill to obtain or people can save, buy, or earn the stubs to get them......

Right, but not half a dozen whose entire supply is entirely determined by the willingness of BR goons to keep playing late in the year.

What I would propose is an unsellable end game type card (say something like 99 Honus/Goose/Foxx/etc) that you get the first time you go 12-0 (so truly exclusive to BR) plus say 500k stubs (for each 12-0) along with the normal diamond rewards. This way the guy that only goes 12-0 once in April is still getting a reward in line with the achievement of flawless, but that you don’t tie up half a dozen cards with minuscule supply late in the year.

With all do respect brotha it’s a video game. I wouldn’t call being able to press “x” that fast a skill per say. You ain’t playing real baseball here where most of us wouldn’t be able to hit a 70 mph fastball. So it being a video game why can’t I earn it another way. I paid my [censored] money. If you can go 12-0 congrats heres your card. But maybe have another way for the other folks to earn it that aren’t able to live like that.

You don’t think those top players are skilled? I ain’t one of them, but just because it isn’t a “cool” skill, they have a skill when it comes to this game none the less

That's definitely not what he's saying. He's saying for non 12-0 guys it comes down to the "skill" of not having to work at 3 eastern and getting your order in first

Got it, I read that too quickly....Hard to argue there, if you don’t work from home and can get on your PS as opposed to shownation, you are behind the 8 ball..

I tried to explain why having too many stubs and too many juiced cards was a bad thing, but there is a section of the player base even now, who will never have 1m stubs, will never stop buying packs and will appreciate a free 25k to buy a couple of unrealistic juiced 125 power flashbacks to improve their team.
I couldn’t tell you in all honesty if they’re the minority, or players like us who buy at launch and stick around all year are the minority, but there are clearly negative aspects for a lot of players as well as positive aspects for others.

SDS

If this is the price for there being too many stubs available in the game. I'll take it tbh.
