Dude averaged 96mph on the fastball and had a max release speed at 103mph in 2011.

I don’t think he should have outlier but the fact that this card can’t touch a 100 is an absolute joke for anyone who actually watched jv in his prime with Detroit

JV was known to keep his velocity down early in starts and then ramp up, that's why his average velo is lower.

However if you look at his max release speeds he clocked higher than deGrom did this year.

Interesting, I was just looking at another link that was showing him topping out at 96mph on the fastball. So, someone's data is wrong.

Oh it’s definitely wrong lmao! These people saying 96 is accurate for him clearly did not watch the man pitch

I don't know, Fan Graphs says his average fastball in 2011 was 95mph...

    https://www.fangraphs.com/players/justin-verlander/8700/stats?position=P

Never mind, I misread Fan Graphs. It says his fastball in 2008 was around 95, when talking about his 2011 year. So annoying.

Never mind the never mind, 2nd edit on this post, it is saying that his average in those years after 2008 was 95 and in 2008 the average speed was 93mph. In conclusion, I don't know. LOL

It was. But thats because in the first 5 innings he threw 93-95 and at the end of the game he threw 100
